      There's always France (again)
Would solve the small boats problem, we could stick stroppy teenagers in the Foreign Legion, we could call English Sparkling Wine English Champagne, recycle the Eiffel Tower, rename the Tour de France and the list goes on.

Are you rural, @Fourmerkland? my best guess would be mice, dormice, rats or martens.

Oi! Steady on! It's already been done anyway round here, but it's a gentle invasion this time and sadly for UK, it's not necessarily the folks you want to get rid of that are still flocking over.

I'd go with squirrels rather than martens or dormice.

We're semi rural. In a village. We are the first house in the road (or last, depending on which way you are going). The fields are practically on our doorstep. At least, until they are built on.
But we are also coastal, which brings its own set of challenges.
We are aware it could be mice. It is unlikely to be martens.
I must get some traps set if we hear the noises again. The only rustling I can hear at the moment is my wife reading the newspaper.

The martens have very similar status to foxes. Beautiful animals unless/until they massacre your poultry or in the case of martens, invade the attic...

Meghan Markle certainly discovered the stupid mistakes that are made in legal paper work.

You could always just say 'the three R's' by which they are known. :blue thumb:

The "Three R's" has always made me chuckle. What a way to confuse kids who are just learning them.

My apologies if the location wasn't clear @Sheal and @cactus_girl - let's just say those bits of land between the North Sea, the Irish Sea and the English Channel. If N Ireland also has coastal erosion, I suppose I could include the Atlantic Ocean ? Quicker to write UK - or GB if you prefer - but I guess you knew what I was "moaning" about anyway

It's historical, not hysterical :heehee:, as it goes back about three centuries when it stood for Reading, Reckoning and Recording (some say wroughting instead of Recording). I remember that because I was at school then :old: :roflol:
