I use it on my veg beds but not where I grow tatties. My soil is pretty acidic and the brassicas get ash and lime which seems to be beneficial. I had not thought of adding it to my mountain of grass clippings thanks @infradig that is where a load of ash will be dumped today.

With respect, turn the heap and as you do so, lightly dust (20g/sq mtr) with dry ash.Surplus can be stored dry in case you mow in future.. ; would do the lawn good as well probably !

Oh what a good idea, my moss, oh sorry lawn!! could hardly be worse, I will hurl some ash at it in passing. Hmm turning the heap, well afraid that is a bit of a no as it is huge and my days of turning that lot are well over unless I wanted to end up in A&E with a heart attack. My garden is near enough 2 acres and produces vast quantities of waste material. My compost heap gets left to get on with it and eventually produces not bad material although I tend to always use my leaf mould in preference as that is lovely stuff after about 3 years of decaying.

Although you should avoid spreading it around acid soil loving fruit such as blueberries and other berries. :noidea:
