Cut back Clematis 'Minuet' although it took some finding amongst the tangle of tree & shrubs. Probably the first time I've cut it back in 3 years so maybe we'll get the flowers this year instead of the neighbours. Cut back some Anthemis EC Buxton plants I'd forgotten to do last autumn and also cut back Sedum 'Red Cauli' which has had big new buds at ground level all winter.

Finally got the bare root roses into their final spots. Had them healed in for a few weeks now waiting on a dry day off work to get them planted. Put 3 into pots and 3 into a border. Gave the borders a mulch too as I never got to it earlier. It felt so nice to be out in the garden for a few dry hours with some , cold, sunshine.

@LunarSea what happens if you don't cut back Minuet? Does it produce more or fewer flowers? Does it flower earlier?

I cut mine back every year but it grows like mad and flowers at the top of the tree. Not easy getting it all out.

It’s been too cold and windy for gardening today so I went for a walk. It was too cold and windy for that too .

Tried weeding out the creeping potentilla that occupies my garden (along with creeping buttercup and oxalis). It was in one of the alstroemerias, but the shoots of that are so brittle it's hard to get out the weeds without snapping them. This one is "Golden Yellow" and it is doing better than I thought, but I think the slugs have found "Indian Summer" - some shoots have lost their ends.:gaah:

It's produced lots of flowers the past two years but most have been high up and on the neighbour's side of a very tall Berberis between the two properties. It's difficult to appreciate them when they're so high, against a bright sky, and facing the wrong way! I'm afraid I'm not sure if the flowers are earlier as I haven't really noted their flowering period. This time I've cut some stems as low as two feet so I'll pay more attention.

@ViewAhead that's in the system to be done. I don't do any of the techie stuff but it should be done this weekend :fingers crossed:. Sorry. It's my fault for not reminding them. :nonofinger:

I handle the competition but don't know how to do the technical stuff. Our friend fat controller does that. :)

Lovely and sunny here after an icy start. I've been cutting back some soggy dead foxglove vegetation which was obstructing the emerging bulbs. Those leaves felt very cold!

I stuck in a load of bargain snowdrop bulbs not long before Christmas and I can see one or two coming through now. My already established snowdrops are flowering well, and I've got some "in the green" on order.

The morning sun just touched the bottom end of my back garden today. It's going to be interesting to see just how sunny it gets this year, since my neighbours cut so much of the laurel hedge back. Of course all my planning and purchasing has been for shady conditions!

Their garden is still full of laurel. Looks like they are putting it out in the green bins bit by bit.
