Their not going to change the tax rate, they need it for they're wage rise of £2500 for MP's

 

They should start means testing MPs’ heating allowance.

 

Unfortunately that was a bit vague, and it turns out they think anyone with a few quid in the bank has broad shoulders, how dare you have savings.

 

I certainly don’t think anyone anticipated these broad shoulders belonged to pensioners a tickle over the Pension Credit threshold. I imagined the growing cohort of multi-millionaires and billionaires might have been asked for some small change.

 

Apparently they are all leaving, not sure why, must be the weather.

 

To my mind, no MP needs to claim any allowances - I assume most have a house to live in and their salary alongside the generous pension, should surely cover their living costs - if it doesn't, then why are they shocked to discover that many of their constituents can't manage either ?.
If they have been elected to a constituency outside their area ( thereby needing a 2nd home and the extra benefits they then claim), they were obviously aware of this fact when they put themselves up for election. One would like to think that the more MP's who are actually local to the constituency, the more chance of them speaking up for what matters to their constuents. Goes without saying that free votes in Parliament will be necessary. Don't hold your breath

I think the allowances regarding housing is so they can live in Westminster rather than there real home.
I dont have a problem with that, they do keep odd hours so even those that live within commuting distance would need a flat closer to Westminster.

 

Couldn't they stay at the Premier inn across from parliament instead of having a second home paid for by tax payers that they keep when not re elected

 

Well, I'm not standing up for them but I assume the second home is rented, and I think a lot just have a flat, I know some of the well known ones seem to have houses, they probably spend as much time there as in their constituency.

My biggest beef is all the other expenses they claim, all the family that are classed as staff and subsidized food and booze.

 

Every week there are contractors travelling to different parts of the country to work sometimes for years but they manage without claiming for another home

 

I suppose they could park the Bibby Stockholm in the river just next to the bar patio area.

 

I didn't mean to suggest that petitions in general are a waste of time, just anything with the current Government. They have a huge majority and have made it perfectly clear that they will do whatever they want to do, and the voters (of any party) can lump it. They already know they have virtually no chance of being re-elected.
