I have just put up one very small shelf, which I've been putting off for the whole break because I hate drilling jobs. I have very hard concrete block walls - but on the plus side, once stuff is up it stays up!

On a blustery windy day no chance of even going out to the tunnel to pick some salad leaves. So we "found" a box that we thought had shells etc collected over the years by our sons. No it didn't. Over the decades we have filled many scrap books with postcards, theatre tickets, pamphlets etc but we had run out of room to store them. So the next ones went in a box.
Today we went down memory lane. Lots of laughter as well as tears as we came across family and friends still and not still with us. Emails aren't the same as postcards over 30 years ago. Still have more to go through.

We continued with the "box". So many stories from family and friends over so many decades. So glad that we refound the box. But I did get some salad leaves today from the tunnel!

We had our first get together of the village garden club today. It was a soup and puds event at lunch time with all the food made by members. It was lovely to see and chat with so many people even though it was yet again another cold and grey day but we were indoors.

We've been busy with visitors the last few days.

I've also been finalising the questions for the quiz I'm running in two weeks' time. I devise the questions but have someone transfer them to Powerpoint presentations as the questions get displayed on a big screen (actually a wall) as I read out each one. Also there is a separate table quiz where the question sheets are placed on each table. Those are pictorial rounds and they have all evening to answer them. The progressive results after each round are also displayed on the wall. Two computers and two projectors. I'm the non-technical one so that is all left to someone else.

Yesterday we were busy as Mrs Shiney was teaching a bunch of therapists all day and I'm the chef, washer upper and general dogsbody. :phew:

I've got a box of 8mm cine films taken from 1960 to 1973, and I've bought a viewer so that I can see the films and edit them before having them digitalized, and I spent an hour or two this afternoon looking through a few of them.
There were lots of people now past and lots of places that have changed, and several pets now no longer with us too ...
and I laughed and I cried, and I felt embarrassed when I saw myself as a gangly teenager running down a beach in my bathing trunks, and falling face down on the sand ... That bit's being edited out for a start ! :heehee:
And I felt happy when I saw myself again as a teenager, with my little collection of cacti in the window of my dad's garage (that's where it all started !)
It all made me feel very nostalgic ... I need a cup of tea now

The day hasn't started yet but I'm fed up this morning - Bella seems constipated and I'm taking her to the vet later, and my back is so bad I can hardly move and I'm going to see an osteopath this afternoon [IMG] I hope I'll get there in time after taking Bella to see Sam the vet.

And I think there's been a mouse getting in here somehow, I can hear it scratching under the stair boards in the night. I can't imagine how it got in, there are no holes and the walls are solid. Bella didn't bring it in - she won't go out in this cold weather.

I had to tell someone before I go nuts !

We used to give our cat soft white paraffin if she was constipated. It came in a tub from the chemist and was quite cheap. We used to mix it with something fishy and then let her lick it off our fingers. Poor puss would hop around meowing with constipation. But the paraffin worked. Maybe thyroid tablets are causing it?

Thank you ... She's only had it a day or two and doesn't seem unwell, it's just that I can see what she 'does' in the litter tray. Maybe the vet will be able to advise. The vet she's seeing is Sam and she's been very good in the past.

Yes, all is well now @ViewAhead, thanks for asking ...

Bella had 'been' again before we left for the vet and it was normal, except she'd done it behind the front door and I didn't know until I stepped in it ! She's never done that before - always uses the litter tray in the bathroom.
I kept the appointment though, because I wanted the vet to check she's all right due to the thyroid problem, and the vet said there's nothing to worry about. We saw Sam and she's one of my favourite vets there.

Re my back. I had treatment with the osteopath (I've been there several times before and they're very good) I've had some exercises, well simple movements really, to help with preventing the problem reoccurring. But it probably will in the summer when I do something daft in the garden

Good news about Bella. Less good news about accidentally stepping in the mispositioned deposit! :)

Ahh, backs and gardening! I know the issue well. If I didn’t do gardening, my back would certainly give me less bother, but I would be miserable. So, no contest really! ;)
