@John365, it's very probably teabags, the tealeaves seem to vanish but leave behind those tiny bits of plastic mesh. I've stopped putting them in my compost bin but if I'm in the mood and have the time, I split them open and just put the leaves in the bin.

I buy Sainsbury's own brand teabags called red label, but a blue box, they've changed them to plastic free.

@Escarpment i am wondering whether Gardeners World might do a feature on rice growing this year. Many of us have had gardens like rice paddys this winter. Thinking of an earlier topic , i wonder how the moles are faring , i think they like the damp conditions.

It seems so funny that just a couple of years ago everyone was talking about growing for drought conditions!

Things are begining to happen here.
Some seeds set ,to be nurtured over the next few weeks.
We are in the east of England ,so good weather is likely.

Yes, I have echinacea, cobea, erigeron and dianthus seeds already up. Now to see if I can keep them alive ...

I’ve spent the afternoon moving some perennials around and adding some new ones which I’ve been keeping in my garage for the past few days, waiting for the temperature to improve. In the sunniest border in my back garden I’ve planted two Rudbeckias, R. triloba Prairie Glow and R. maxima which is an unusual tall variety, an Iris Gerald Darby, a potted and rooted Allium and a Briza media (Quaking grass). In the border at the bottom of my bank I’ve added a Geranium Max Frei, a Sanguisorba Lilac Squirrel and a Dianthus carthusianorum which I’m testing to see if will go well with some of my medium sized grasses. I also added a Cirsium and a Verbena to my main grass border. In my front garden I replaced some Erigeron karvinskianus with some Geums and a Nepeta which I moved from the back garden. In theory I can sit back now and watch everything spring into action .

Did a lot of clearing up today; I had two flexitubs that had had earth/compost in them and then filled up with rain, so there was lots of mud to transfer into smaller containers and dump at various sites around the garden. Cut back old growth on more of the perennials and did some weeding. Chopped up some previously cut branches for the green bin - used a little mini chainsaw for that. Planted some bare root lupins in pots, and two echinaceas in the bed next to my existing one (this bed has a lot of gravel in it, and is never too wet for planting).
Had sun for most of the day, but some threatening black clouds a few times. The front garden which faces south was really warm in the sun.
Saw a couple of bumble bees visiting the hellebores.

Seed sowing has started. All now tucked up in the heated tray.

Could easily have drier summers and wetter winters.

Pricked out chitted sweet pea seeds. Need to buy more seed for next year.
Watered as required in the greenhouse.
Removed a lot of long grass intruding on flower beds. Removed dead leaves and flower stems from Eryngiun agavifolium.

I've really enjoyed today out in the very welcome sunshine. Been out in the garden for most of it, laying small slabs to use as stepping stones on the renovated back garden sleeper bed. Planted 3 Carex 'Everest' in a row between the slabs as impatient to get this bed sorted out. Hoicked out yet more yards of bindweed while doing that and found yet more poor crocuses trying to emerge from a dump of clay soil - oops.
I also gave my old Isaphan rose a hardish prune, particularly along the top of its rose arch. It's meant to be a shrub but persists in trying to grow for the sky!
Just as well that the forecast is for rain and wind tomorrow - a day of rest to get over today's exertions.
