Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with growing this plant in an outdoor pot ?

They are fairly hardy but not entirely IMO.
A sheltered spot in sun with only light frost should see it through a winter.

As @pete says they're not properly hardy - but, I pass a house every day when out with my pooch and there's about 8 of them in a circle in a bed on the front lawn.
They've been there for 2 winters now - they now look a bit tatty, but still some berries on them.

I grew from seeds which I had borrowed from a friends plants .. mine grew huge as in like over 12 inches high ,, I wonder if plant nursery use a hormone to keep them smaller .

in the summer once the frosts are over likes to be outside

From what i read 12 inches/ 30cm is the normal expected height . I have no intention of moving it inside at any point of the year which is why im concerned about the phrase that its not very hardy.

Well, its not totally hardy, a hard winter or a cold position will kill it, or damage it badly.
Especially, in a pot, if the pot freezes its likely to be the end.
