Zelensky just wants an open check book from America. We know because of actions of Biden that it fueled the start of the war.

I think if I personally had the choice between an open chequebook on offer from someone and the prospect of a peaceful and quiet existence without one, I’d choose the peaceful and quiet life every time.

What started the war was Putin marching into Ukraine, @redstar. Of course, they have needed money to defend themselves. I can understand the US being fed up pouring dollars in, but Trump has chosen to side with Putin (a megalomaniac mass murderer) in any settlement and diss Zelensky.

IMV, Russia should pay reparations for lives lost and also fund a complete rebuild.

Polite Admin reminder regarding political discussion - we try to avoid it as it's frankly too disruptive and emotive.

      Please move the discussion on.

I suppose at the moment it's either too wet or too cold for much in the way of gardening so politics are on the agenda for many as is the case on "Latest Moans " too. Part of life whether we like it or not.
However, it will soon be Spring ( or so I am told ) - this last 24 hours hours of mild weather has livened up my Mini Daffs and Crocus - no doubt to be battered by the upcoming stormy winds due in the next day or 2.

I don’t need to wait for a storm, our local pheasants have snipped the unopened buds off every daffodil and tweaked off the open flowers of the snowdrops while they were at it. Someone or something has pulled all the petals off our few remaining crocuses and miniature irises. Why do I bother? :wallbanging:

I am really having trouble loading pages on GC this evening.

Obviously @Fat Controller is off-duty for celebration purposes, but just thought I would mention the issue in case others are experiencing similar. :)

I was having problems too, but I turned WiFi off and went onto 4g (and at times H+). That solved it for me. I think there are problems our end too on the WiFi at times - Plusnet.

Can I ask who your ISP is please?

As the ladies in the house are at work today, I've been getting on with redecorating our bedroom. Just about to do the final task (taxi run) of the day

          H+?

Bear in mind you are conversing with someone who has never even held a smart phone.

OK, so that tells me you are on OpenReach network, which is good info... I am wondering if either Openreach still has issues with DNS somewhere or if the network is congested due to things like rugby matches streaming

Ah, as long as we are not dragging you away from cake and balloons, etc, my provider is PlusNet.

No cake nor balloons so far

That is very interesting - two of you on Plusnet/Openreach having issues. I am still leaning toward a DNS issue somewhere. Not beyond the realms that it sits with Cloudflare either (who I believe are our hosts)

I won't worry my little head about them then.

Edit - that was in reply to the post before last. Adding quotes is a bit hit and miss at the mo.
