Whether it was a truck or not that caught fire, one thing for sure, the fire broke out at a battery recycling plant. Portable battery recycling ltd claim to be the UK's only specialist portable Battery recycler, don't know if they recycle large electric batteries or just your everyday portable batteries, probably the latter.

Huge fire breaks out at battery recycling centre as 'explosions' heard

With the new US and reciprocal tariffs, the price is only going to go up on tesla cars. I wonder how that will affect the bromance.

I think the EU is largely abandoning Tesla @Thevictorian.

        Seen on FB _

Everyone is being so hard on Elon. Look, he is having a very bad 2025. Tesla stock is down 48% since December's high. Sales are down more than 70% in some European countries. But hear me out, we can do better. Let's do the same to Starlink and Twitter.

I have always enjoyed space and the engineering to get there, so have followed the space x rocket programme quite closely. It's meant I have seen a fair bit of musk and it's amazing how he is politically as opposed to talking about space. In interviews about starship or falcon 9, he has always been a slow, calculated thinker in his replies but shoots from the hip when being political. I know he has asbergers syndrome and I wonder if this causes the behaviour shift.
As far as I'm aware he had never voted republican before last year and it been suggested the switch is because Biden slighted him when they had a big electric car conference, by not inviting him or tesla. It does seem weird that someone with money in "environmental" tech, would latch onto someone so backwards on climate. Unfortunately I think tesla will just become a pawn in the game and the whitehouse will just shift towards more fossil fuels simply because they don't understand the backlash is with the figureheads and not the technology.

Tesla are not able to fully compete with Chinese manufacturers, particularly in terms of price, and even their FSD is far from perfect, so less of a selling point than may first have been imagined. Quality seems OK, but no better than others. Politics aside, the EV market was already starting to slide, so the change in Tesla's fortunes shouldn't be a surprise. Boycotting may be a part of that, but it isn't the biggest problem on the horizon.

EV's are certainly here to stay, but many folks have realised that there are still limitations to the tech and it is simply not the environmental panacea it was supposed to be.

@Thevictorian I recently read an article by a South African reporter explaining that Musk was born and brought up in Pretoria, SA's apartheid capital when he was young. His schooling was probably fairly brutal cos of his Asperger's syndrome and his father is not a kind man. When he fled to north America he found a natural home with the far right racist groups who honed any political views. His upbringing and Asperger's do not make him empathetic or sympathetic to others.

I sincerely hope the hubris of calling his car company Tesla and of trying to control international communications with his satellites plus space exploration with his defective rockets will come back and bite him severly in his most delicate as well as public parts. The sooner he is out of public life and influence the better for mankind and all earth's ecology.

            Ditto Trump.

Unfortunately I think the earth is set for a terrible few years now our opposing political parties are attempting to follow the US GOP climate stance.

Defective rockets? Because NASA have never had a rocket blow up or anything?

Which far right racist groups in north America was he associated with or that honed his political views?

Its actually a space X rocket that is bringing the two astronauts back who have been stranded for 9 months after the Boeing one became defective and they couldn't risk them coming back in it.

Boeing's track record with planes recently isn't exactly pristine, let alone rockets. Technology may well have taken big leaps and bounds in a relatively short space of time, but the more complex things get the more risks there are that something, somewhere, has been missed or not thought about, especially in some code.
