Afternoon all, disappointed to wake up this morning to yet another hard frost, which wasn't forecast for us. Still, it warm up quite quickly by lunchtime. My gardener arrived about 9 ish and quickly got stuck into digging up the perennials, working some manure into the area, then replanting a bushy Penstemon 'Garnet' which needed more space. Then she trimmed the neighbour's hedge on the boundary which was overhanging our drive.

I pottered around taking it easy as my back is twinging every now and then. Divided one of the dug up perennials into five and potted those up.

We didn't have pancakes yesterday either, as it was a 'thin day' for us. Might save it for the weekend for a treat. Sugar and lemon fans here.

Glad you're safely in Eastbourne @Busy-Lizzie, pity about the car accident scene, do hope the folks are okay.

Have a good journey home @redstar.

What a gorgeous day it's been.
We had lemons and a little stevia with our pancakes. Dogs did not partake!
      A cracking pic @Ladybird4
We went to lidl for some things advertised in their gardening week mag, only to find that it starts tomorrow. Doh!
I also wanted some growing parsley for my herb garden at the van, but was unlucky on that score too. Got seedlings at home, but wanted more mature plants up here.
We may nip to our fave GC in Ruthin tomorrow and have afternoon tea at the Sugar Plum tea rooms. Oh the decadence!
      If i were Henry 8th, I'd declare a scone a ryvita thin!
      Sorted.

          Good afternoon,

A fabulous sunrise photo @Ladybird4. Nature gives us some beautiful things to admire.
It’s been a lovely spring like day here today, after a chilly start.

I got out into the garden to do a bit of general tidying up and removal of dead stems and then after lunch, we took a walk to the next village to blow the cobwebs away and admire all the spring flowers. The church yard there still had lots of snowdrops out, although they are starting to fade a bit now, and there were lots of daffodils growing and out in the verges as we walked up the road, which looked bright and cheerful. The church yard has a bench set against the wall of the church, and it’s a real sun trap so we sat there quite a while enjoying the warmth of the sun on our faces and listening to the birds calling each other.

Came back and sorted out the car insurance so that’s done for another year. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it hadn’t increased in price (though still not cheap).

We didn’t have pancakes yesterday either, even though we enjoy them because we need fresh eggs and so we’ll buy some more tomorrow and make some then.

            @Butterfly6 glad you approve!
We were talking tonight about old sayings and your photo @Ladybird4 promted me to remember
Sky blue pink with a finny haddy border.
            Anyone remember that?
My grandchildren had never heard it,

Good evening all. It has been a lovely day today - despite the red sky in the morning. The first of the two ladies in waiting has given birth to her baby. He is a second son for her and her husband and the second brother for their daughter. He has been named Etienne as his Dad is French. He arrived at a healthy 8lbs 8oz in old money!
I can appreciate your difficulties having your windowsills external @Obelix-Vendée and @Allotment Boy has the same problem I mentioned about where to put the potted on tomatoes. I do grow for 3 other people though so as soon as is possible I hand them over for someone else to bring them on.

@Penny_Forthem I have heard that quote before - usually my Grandma and Great Aunts would use it to describe a sunrise or sunset

@lizzie27 take care with your back, there is a long gardening season ahead! How many of us, I wonder, get so excited when we get a pleasant day early in the year and we rush out working flat out until we cripple ourselves? I'm one who goes, 'Oh I'll just do this last little bit of trimming back' and that turns out to be the camel's straw.

Good morning all. No beautiful sunrise this morning but it is dry. I am expecting a delivery of pet food this morning. Those crafty manufacturers, who produce the food that Cricket eats, have reduced the content of their food pouches from 100g to 85g but surprise surprise the cost has remained the same. However, if you search online you can still find the original boxes - with the 100g pouches, so that is what I did. I am going to throw on my gardening scruff after breakfast and head into the garden.
p.s. I should have added that I am not going to my Bestie's today - she has a dental appointment - but I will see her tomorrow as it is our first Friday meal with the other quizzers.

                          Good morning to everyone!

Grey and dismal here with a little breeze -no rain yet.

I have finished the vegetable garden for now. I do need some decent planks of wood to limit the area and prevent losing too much topsoil when it rains. Housework and shopping over the next couple of days.

Shrinkflation is getting more and more prominent, isn't it @Ladybird4 ? Safe driving today @Busy-Lizzie on your last leg home. Bon voyage!

                          Have a lovely day everyone.

Good morning @Debs64 and @Tui34. I need to get a wriggle on as the sun is shining even more now and the garden is beckoning. I hope that it is slightly warmer outside as it takes me a lot longer to feel less stiff when it is cool.
