@Fat Controller I'm just catching up here and really enjoyed pics of your ride! My dad should have treated himself to one. His name was Bond. James Bond. :)

But its all made here? I dont think we import much food from America.
Or are you suggesting we should all boycott American based companies?

So do we stop buying computers,

Just imagine suddenly losing all the highly processed US company food products from UK supermarkets. People would be collapsing in the aisles from withdrawal symptoms. ;) Mind, the obese stats might benefit.

No, just Teslas. There’s too many around here, nothing to show off about in my opinion, they are not aesthetically pleasing .

                None of those for me.

My computer is American, credit cards are American, my bank is Spanish, insurers all British, don't do streaming nor social media and rarely buy anything as ecommerce apart from using a credit card in shops (only because I get cashback on it ).

None of that is intentionally done to avoid anything American but it just turns out that way. :noidea:

I may look at my options for country of origin in future. :)

Well I think I'd prefer to avoid Chinese stuff personally, but these days its impossible, everything to buy contains components sourced from around the world.

Thank you Lori :) I actually got her back together and moving today... she's been a tad reluctant to come out of hibernation thanks to the gearbox interlock playing up, but we seem to be over that hurdle now...

There are a couple of those "trucks" around town and to me, it just looks like a partially squashed shoe box or a kid's soap box car.

This. You'd drive yourself nuts trying to avoid anything from a particular country. Like you, I am no fan of the Chinese methods, so avoid brands that are wholly theirs, but just about everything now is made in China or has parts made in China, even if you are buying from a known brand from elsewhere. Likewise, there are parts/components in things from all around the world in just about everything now.

A few Xmases ago I was looking for som new baubles for our tree. Every single packet said made in China so I bought none. In Belgium I'd been spoiled by easy access to proper Xmas markets in Belgium and Gremany with artisanal, local stuff so it was a bit of a shock finding only Chinese tat. I took to making my own felt and fabric Xmas decs.

When I bought my new PC recently - before Trump got going - I rejected an all Chinese model for and HP laptop made in Taiwan and US plus a bit in China. This is the result of western manufacturers exporting jobs to China for cheaper production costs and no worries about standards of safety or security for a labour force. Short term thinking.

I never buy anything online form Shein or Temu - Chinese - and I don't buy anything form Primark or Benetton and any other company I know uses cheap sweatshop female labour in factories with appaling conditions, no safety and really low pay. i'd rather go without.

I haven't eaten a McD anything since 1988, don't buy coca-cola or anything with long lists of chemical ingredients. I buy seasonal fruit and veg, mostly French but also Belgian (potatoes and cababges) and Spanish with some Moroccan toms in winter.

I do realise that being retired means I have to time to read labels and make such decisions as well as the time to buy and make fresh food - cheaper and tastier than ready meals and take-away and the French don't do curry.

As for jags, OH gets seasick in cars with sof suspensions but I do like their style, except E-types which are just horrid, ugly things.

Here, we're all doing our best not to buy anything out of the USA. Strawberries from mexico good. Cheese from England and lots of goods from other democratic countries.. But no Kentucky bourbon, California wine, etc etc.

Its easy for me. I use Canadian wheat and other products to make my baked goods, I make all if my own clothes, including my coats and jackets and bras. Other than socks and panties I make everything and with textiles from democracies but now no longer from the USA.

Years ago I did buy my Sunoven from the states and it came wuth a giant stars and stripes decal plastered on it. I've ripped that off because it annoys me to look at it. I bought lots of US goods but not any more.

I can't avoid Chinese parts for my vehicles because they are old ICEs and I don't want to buy new. I try to keep their Chinese goods to a minimum in my shopping cart.

Ah but, @Obelix-Vendée, we're living in a country that resisted American influence longer than most and is now torn between raging Western-style capitalism and hypocritical attempts at protectionism. Or perhaps that's unfair....many, many French, especially in rural France, still refuse to buy non local and will have nothing to do with the likes Amazon. I'm not sure that they realise the lack of choice they are imposing on themselves but they certainly stick to their principles! It's far more difficult to avoid Chinese imports, as you say. Have you noticed that in France we tend to get the crappiest poor quality imports? Perhaps French buyers are fobbed off with the rubbish, or they're on tighter profit margins?
