I really miss the Flybe flights from Exeter to London City airport. I used to be able to visit family near London in a fraction of the time it takes on the train. What I’m finding very annoying at the moment is that British Airways are using the airport for training flights. Mostly Embraer short haul planes coming down from London City and flying round in circles. I do wish they would compensate us locals by introducing a regular service!
I was surprised that they didn’t try to use the runway here during the recent Heathrow shut down, easier to bus passengers back to London than from Paris etc. I wonder if there are tall enough steps to get the passengers off though!

Hopefully about 50% will be of the flights will be arrivals.
East Midlands Airport has a lot of freight coming in and is a hub for FedEx, UPS, DHL and Royal Mail.

As our dear Chancellor of the Exchequer is so good at finding Black Holes would it be unkind to hope she disappears into one - soon?!

Many of the McDonald's stores are in the process of having their stores redesigned due to the vast amount of people placing orders through Deliveroo. Prior to Covid, McDonalds were not in partnership with any of the takeaway food apps, until Covid. Since we came out of lockdown the boom for McDonald's has grown so much that many of the drivers were occupying seats which are designated for those who wanted to eat in and this boom is growing. Now the stores are being redesigned so the Deliveroo drivers enter a separate area. The 2 local McDonalds near my hometown have already had their stores redesigned this year with the seating area now being even smaller.

I now only do a food shop first thing in the morning or late evening, otherwise trying to get into town is a nightmare due to the amount of Deliveroo drivers and those going through the Drivethru. Personally, the council should make them relocate out of town, as it is probably driving more people out of town than drawing them in.

Last time I was in a Mac diddles was in the 90s and in America, and I didn't have a clue what to order back then, I think I'd struggle these days.

Is everything still in a bun with some crispy sticks called fries?

Those food delivery companies are a right pain. The High Street in Exeter is pedestrianised, apart from buses, but it’s hard work trying to avoid being run down by delivery bikes. I once sat in Pret trying to enjoy a coffee while a steady stream of of delivery people headed past with bags and boxes. Given how quickly fast food cools down, what on earth state are the burgers and chips in when they finally arrive? Do people eat them lukewarm, or do they have to reheat them?

Do your McDonalds not have drive throughs? Yes, those cause traffic headaches too in our shopping centres but I think this is how it is done.

The trouble is, these McDonalds are situated at the entrance of these shopping centres which causes traffic to backup on to the main road, causing traffic to a stand still. Last time I was in McDonalds was August last year with my daughter, we decided to stop for a quick bite before going to the movies, due to the volume of Deliveroo drivers entering the store for orders placed through the app and drivethru's it resulted in me having to ask for a refund as we still hadn't received our food after placing the order 25 minutes prior.

I have often wondered this. The Deliveroo chap round here uses a bicycle. All well and good for skipping through the traffic, but surely the food must be cold by the time he gets it to its destination. He is often out and about, pedalling furiously, at 8 am. What are people getting delivered at that time? ‘tis a mystery of modern life.

I see them going around at 10am.
I assume they are delivering late breakfast to a fair few of those the government are trying to get off the sick list.

Cornflakes and milk then! :) Surely no one eats a lukewarm burger and fries at that time of day?

You'd be surprised, if they don't have it delivered they go out and get it in their pajamas.

I've got a work colleague who has to drive to Bristol to get his girlfriend's favourite takeaway. That's the best part of an hour each way.
