    Unfortunately not everyone is as savvy.
    many people will panic and respond - giving their details and therefore the contents of their Bank account.

    No financial body will email indirectly.
    Any email without specific personal identification (your name) should be treated as a Scam.

    Any email about money, even with your name, should be treated as a scam. No financial institution will ever ask you to click on a link or send any info by email.

      Maybe AVG want a cut of the money :heehee:

      Interesting use of the word 'dumurrage' (which they have managed to spell correctly :D). It is only normally used in reference to a charge for storing goods or tangible currency like gold.

      They seem to have popped over the border from Nigeria to Benin to run this scam :loll:

          This is true. My brother-in-law in the US lives in a large house and rents out flats (sorry, apartments :D) in it. He had this reply to his ad recently:-

          He's quite experienced in picking out scams as he's been renting the flats out for over 30 years. This was his reply:-

          Perhaps I can hop a plane to NZ and talk to you since you cannot come here??

          Or why not just send me the three months rent I require prior to move in??

          I prefer cash since I do not trust the banking system, what with the Euro crisis and all those layabout good-for-nothing Greeks and Portuguese.

          Unless you have gold bars or silver coins that I can keep??

          Thanks so much for your interest. I used to be a microbiologist myself and my research work that would have earned me a Nobel prize was stolen from me. But that is a long story.

          Regarding pets.. I love them myself but the other tenants in the apartment may have allergies. You may have to buy them off so that they agree to live with your pets. Can I be your pet??

          His friends ask him how he recognises the scams. He said that this is typical and
          "They all read the same, degree from England, living somewhere far away, cannot be reached by phone, cannot come to check out the place, ask stupid questions to which the answers are already in the ad, etc., etc.,."
