While the weather is good, decided to sort out the area behind the frames with a view to creating a fruit garden.

      This was it this morning,

Full of couch grass, nettles, rubus fruiticosus & bindweed.

      This it it this evening,

A lot less weeds, getting on towards level & with an added Gooseberry bush. Will put more bush fruit along the middle. Planning on some trained top fruit alongside the fence.

        Cheers Lol,

My aching limbs are telling me that too.

Once all the bushes & trees are in, i'll put down weed supressing membrane in the form of old carpets & ripped up dumpy bags & then cover that with shredded bark.

Got 2 piles of that, but need to unblock the shredder for more.

Great work in a day Ziggy Did you take the afternoon off ?

Though I would get some preservative on the fence before planting up

Me being a "gardener" and all that:heehee:

          :D Can't rush these things Jack:D

Good point about the fence, its not mine but guess who'll end up repairing it if it goes NS:DOH: I'll get onto the gaffer tommorow about some 5 star:dbgrtmb:

Next thing is to get some apples & pears to train against the fence. Don't want them higher than a step ladders worth of picking so am I looking at M12 Rootstock?

Used to drink Cider CG, just met too many people who carried on drinking it.

Just had a google for "cider nose" but no luck there.

Do you mean those red, misshapen noses that all old cider drinkers seem to acquire?

LOL! I can't say I've heard of the cider nose!! I used to work at a pretty wild bar up in the moorlands a few years back, and I remember a fair few 'rosey cheeks' but that was normally after the sherry got flowing :heehee:

I do like a bit every so often :) The standard magners, bulmers etc, and even a bit of jacques fruit cider. But my favourite at the moment has to be Brothers Strawberry cider :heehee: Maybe more of a summer drink eh.

I wonder how it causes them to have a mis-shapen nose Scrungee :heehee:?

              Thats the ones Scrunge,

Its caused by the cyanogenetic glycosides in the apple pips, your body breaks these down into cyanide.

The body can handle the small doses but constant exposure over a long period just messes up the blood vessels. The blood cells absorb cyanide more readily than oxygen (same with carbon monoxide)

If you save a cup full of apple pips and eat them all at once, it'll be your last meal.:thud:

Neither did a guy that liked to eat apple pips so much that he saved a cup full up to treat himself.:(

Pre internet days, about 30 years ago, when I go home i'll scan the page in the book to stop Dai denying it:heehee::WINK1:
