We have quite a lot of plants and seedlings that are almost ready to move on. We are going to sell some from the gate at home. Rather than just dump a few trays and pots outside I thought I would try and present nicely what I have for sale. So I have made a barrow, much like was used in the old fashioned markets.

All made out of recycled materials, but I had to buy a tin of paint. The frame is all steel tubing. The wheels came from the local tip. The timber is used gravel boards. Took five hours to cut and weld up all the steel tube and box section. Then another hour to make the panels on top.

This will beloaded up with flowers and veg plants for sale. What do members think of it?

Now that I like, Chopper. It's exactly the right thing for presentation of the plants and it'' draw punters attention to it.
I wish I had the foresight and talent that you've obviously got, but as I can sing, dance or whistle ................!!

Looks really good :dbgrtmb:. I think it will make your produce much more saleable.

It reminds me of the days when as a lad of 13/14 I used to run round the streets in the East End of London doing deliveries. We used the full size barrows (about 10ft long) but they were dead easy to use.

One house near us also has a 5ft tall rack on wheels with three or four shelves on which he puts taller things. Each shelf has a front lip. If he has any plants in flower they go on the top shelf and it catches the eye very easily.

That is very nice and when not being used for selling your seedlings, it could be used as a feature to show case more mature plants.

I really like this Chopper. It's simple, functional and carries a story (as well as whatever else you place in it).

May the art of artful recycling be continuously recycled. :)

:wow: Chopper that is brilliant mate, that has to be a winner.. It will have that nostalgic appealing look, which will make people want to "Stop & Buy"..!! Best of luck with it all & let us see it loaded up & of course let us know how it all goes.. It will be very interesting to see as we have a couple of people in the village here who do it.. Will you get passing trade as well as locals where you are.?

    Nice one Chopper :dbgrtmb:

Saves leaving the plants outside all night for the badgers.

Chopper and I basically live on the same street, its just a very long street Marley. We do get some passing trade but its not a major route.

I'm going to have to do something huge to compete with Chopper for sales now :heehee::WINK1:

Maybe a doughnut stall and a helter skelter.

First clas Chopper. I see, from the first picture, there was a lot of road trials with different wheels before you fixed on the best ones. :D

:heehee: Or grow my giant pumpkin across the road, better than speed bumps for catching passing trade.

A lady called at the house yesterday to deliver the parish magazine. I was outside working on a bike. She looked very sheepish as she came through the gate. She said hello and stopped, anyone would have thought I was going to jump out and ravage her or something. She said "I have heard of you and I hear your bikes when you go out............ I have never seen you without your bike gear on"! I stood up and found I was about two feet taller than her. She looked up at me and said "Is it true that you are growing flowers in a field down the road"?.........." Will you be selling them"?

I was curious so I asked how she had heard of me and was what she had heard anything good. Poor woman went bright red and started stuttering! I just looked at her without saying a word and she says "I was only asking". Poor woman, god only knows what she has heard. I told her that "I only eat children on wednesdays and had given up seal clubbing, badger baiting and throwing rocks at old ladies", then burst out laughing. She relaxed a bit then and asked if she could see what I was doing with the garden. She had a look in my tunnel and round the garden and now wants to buy some plants off me when they are ready.

I have now been invited to join her and her friends for a bring and buy sale plus lunch at her house in aid of the church!! I will have to get my best colours out for the occassion. Can you imagine what that is going to be like? ME attending a village bring and buy sale with all the local WI, then having lunch with them! What have I got myself into? Mrs Chopper thinks it is hilarious.

Thankyou for all the kind comments, very encouraging.

Marley, I live in a very small village of just 37 houses. There is no pub, shop orpost office. There is only one road and that goes straight through the village. The same road carries straight on past Ziggys's house. So most trade will be passing. Just hope some will stop and buy some plants.

    Chopper.
