I have given it a week now tried changing my settings, but when I open a section sometimes it only shows 3 threads. Sometimes threads going back to 2006 . Now tonight when I open a thread the newest post is at the top and the original at the bottom! DOH.. Is anyone else having this problem ?
What is the best way to do a personal reset and start again ?

    TIA

No, you don't need to do that! First go to your UserCP, then Edit Options, then scroll down to Thread Display Options and in Default Thread Age Cut Off set it to "Show All Threads". You might also check that the Thread Display Mode just above that is set to "Show Newest First" then Save Changes at the very bottom.

If this doesn't completely resolve it for you, you could also try changing the Display Options (much the same) at the bottom of the page in the forum, i.e., not in a thread. You need "Last Post", "Descending" and "Beginning" showing in the three boxes. Sadly you might find you have to do this in every forum you visit but once done, your cookies should keep it that way.

Let me know if it doesn't sort it for you.

I've noticed a similar but slightly different problem.

I clicked the 'new posts' link earlier while I was a bit busy, and I got three pages of new posts, but didn't have time to read them, so I looked at one or two and then left it for a while. Then I come back later, and new posts returns 11 threads. Clicking on 'Today's posts' brings the rest back, but they all show as though I've read them when I haven't. As a consequence I'm finding that I have to try to remember what threads I'm up to.

I also find that sometimes when I click the 'first unread post' button next to a thread title, sometimes it takes me to the first unread post, sometimes it doesn't.

We had a similar issue a couple of years ago. Back then it turned out to be a simple config setting if I remember right. Thread tracking was being handled by the browser as opposed to the database tracking everything. I can't remember the exact details, but it was something like that.

I'm experiencing similar things but afraid I have no idea what's amiss.
I've also had an error message when using the Mark All Forums Read feature. Anyone else?

Yes, Daisees, I get this all the time. However, sometimes it will clear it down and sometimes it won't ... :what:

Well, I told Nate about it the other day and he said he would look into it when he has time.

Just in case of interest, albeit rather "Geeky", I have described my strategy for thread-reading, to mitigate this problem, in this thread:
