I have been admiring the flowering cherries over the past few weeks. Can anyone tell me the species of these early cherries? Thanks

    Hi Rupert,
Somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you'll find they are almonds not cherries. I think it's a little early for cherries to bloom.:)

My cherry is flowering at the moment - Prunus Shirotae Mount Fuji. Prunus Incisa is also out. I think a lot of the Japanese ornamental cherries do flower this early - perhaps not the "real" ones though.

So are the eating cherries (a further 5 mins walk), damsons and cherry plums.

I think it depends on where you are in the country Rupert Bear.
If you go into User CP and edit your profile you can enter a location which will show in your posts.
