    Dear all,

I am starting work on a film of a shed being repeatedly improved. I’m currently searching for a participant for the film, and was hoping to find someone who has an existing interest in gardening, DIY, sheds, or something similar here.

The participant could be either male or female, and any age from around mid twenties onwards. There’s no acting involved; instead the film will focus on tasks being completed, e.g. the shed being painted, things being added, locks being fitted, and the like.
This means that a willingness and ability to perform some small manual tasks is necessary, although skill or knowledge of DIY is not a requirement at all – the tasks will be very small and easy.

The most important thing to mention is the time requirement. The film will take about 5 to 7 days, at around 5 hours per day. This could be spread over about 3 weeks: the participant could choose which days they wished to film on, and how often: but I would need them to be able to complete the film with me.

The film will be made in my garden, as this is where I will pre-build the shed. I am based in London, so I’m looking for someone in or near(ish) London. I would of course fund all of your travel - I would also offer remuneration for your time (which we could discuss), but this would unfortunately not be much: and so this would not be a good way to earn money, but is better considered as a voluntary experience with a bit of a bonus!

Making the film should be a great experience – relaxed, enjoyable, and not hard work. There will be as many breaks as you like, and I’ll provide a lovely lunch and lots of cups of tea and biscuits. The people I’ve worked with in the past have had a very enjoyable time when we film (as have I).

Finally, a bit about me: I’m Dominic, a twenty-three year old Fine Art student at Goldsmiths University, about to graduate. This film will be shown at my Degree show in June (which you would of course be invited to). I have been working with film for the past three years, making mainly interview style films for the majority of this time. My work focuses on duration and time.

I’m sorry this is so long, and I hope no one minds me posting here. Please let me know if you think you might be interested – I can then give more details of the project and my work, and answer any questions you might have, either by PM here, or by email at [email protected].

Thank you all for your time!

    Best wishes,

    Dominic

Is this a late April fools joke, or an early next years one?

If you find someone gullible enough to do this for you, forward their details onto me as I have some snake oil to sell.

Oops, this seems to have gone down the wrong way. But thanks for the responces.

JWK - the trouble with student noticeboards is that most students tend to be in their early twenties, and I really need someone a bit older if possible, but thanks!

As for scamming people into doing a shed for me - although it does seem like a brilliant scheme, I will be building the shed myself this weekend - so I'll be doing the hard part - and it will be going from a functioning shed to a slightly more pieced-together shed, so it would really be quite pointless.

Like I said, anyone who wants more information on why I am making this film can email me, I would be very happy to talk about my work. And anyone who would like to see examples of other films I've made would also be most welcome.

    Thanks!

    Dominic

Actually when I re-read my origional post it does sound ridiculous - just to clarify that the shed won't be being 'improved' in the conventional sense - I'm not just too lazy to do my own work - but would painted and then repainted another colour - things added only to be taken away later, etc etc.
