Flipping badgers!!!

I have a problem!! Badgers are ripping ten bales of...... out of my lawn ! I understand that they r after leather jackets but they're wrecking the place - I actually think it might be a big extended family plus cousins, aunties and uncles !!! We have the sonic deterents but they have a limited range, They do seem to work but we'll need several hundred to cover the lawn !! - Its about half an acre of grass . The whole place is 1.4 acres so fencing will be prohibitively expensive . I've been told that spraying with 'crossfire' will do for the leatherjackets but sadly I don't have a P.A. 1 and 6 so I can't get my mits on any of that and gather that its hard on the worms anyway . I don't know but I'm sure I've heard that human hair can be a deterent or am I imagining that ? If u can help I would be forever in your debt

 

Nothing much stops Mr Badger once he gets something into his head, except maybe Jeyes fluid spread as a deterrent.

 

Thank u v much guys . I'll give it a go . Anythings worth a try but am I wrong in thinking that jeyes is a bit of a herbicide ? I know it's a mossicide and an algicide , is it a grassicide too ? : )

 

Wow.. Must admit I would love a few Badgers popping in and out of my garden .
Slightly p the Village from me they had a few problems with them . I think they just gave up in the end though and made quite a few raised beds..

 

There's possibly another way Wozwoz. I heard somewhere that if you scatter a lot of peanuts over the ground the badgers will be more interested in eating them than in digging up your lawn - it might be worth a try if the other methods don't work or if you don't want to use very harsh chemicals.

I think hair tends to be for foxes, but you could try hanging a few socks or tights full of hair on the boundary where they are getting in.

In passing I would love to have a badger family digging up my lawn, or have a fox wander accross. My neighbour across the street feeds Foxes in his garden but all we have is the odd slug and snail
