I have a Cherry called Kazan and all the books say it's a free flowering cherry. Mine is now 2-3 meters tall and has never flowered. It has been in about 5 years. Shall I put the chainsaw to it?
Seriously? You have to ask that on a forum? Yes if you want to get rid of the tree; no if you don't. Simple, no?
I think you have to ask yourself if it's planted in the right place to get enough sun etc.. Are you feeding it, as that will stop it flowering if it is getting too much Nitrogen...
From what I've seen so far Gardeners Corner is somewhere people can ask all kinds of questions... without being mocked. Some (like me) have very small gardens and if a plant or tree isn't pulling its weight you have to make difficult decisions about whether you keep it or not. Rupert bear - Feeding plants with blood fish and bone fertilizer (or something heavy in phosphorus) promotes flowering and fruiting - maybe try that for next year before going all George Washington
No of course it isn't simple. For someone who doesn't know about gardening its entirely possible that they would think that more than 5 years is required before a Cherry Tree will flower. There will be hundreds of outer possible "doubts" in Newbies minds too If you haven't got something civil to say then please don't say anything at all
