I take your point about the UK and Great Britain, Sheal, I was only being generalistic and paying homage to the UK title as it seems to be the one most used by people and the media. Can you put me down now and let me have the soap box back that you borrowed off me///:D:D:loll::heehee::heehee: I actually prefer the Great Britain title but I just didn't realise that anyone else did:thumb:

I agree with you, Shiney:love30: I'm proud of being British, I'm proud of being English, but not to the point of fanaticism. I dislike all this historical tribalism that some people seem to live in as they believe it gives them some sort of importance and status above other countries and cultures.

Shiney, you're right on your 'technical point' which is what I was trying to get across. :)

Armandii, it wasn't my intention to have a go at you or anyone else in particular. Sorry, you can have your soap box back now. :)

Although our country has many faults, I am also proud to be English, I was born into a family that dates back to the 15th century originating in Essex. You can't get much more English than that!

No matter where people think the Isle of Man is situated with regards Great Britain, (just to be facetious) it is lingering somewhere in the Irish sea between Liverpool and Dublin :heehee: and often mistaken for the Isle of Wight. Don't get me started on that one!

You're welcome, Sheal:D My phobia is Sharks, I had an "encounter" with a few off the coast of Kenya a long time ago. They are masters of the element they're in and if you're up close and personal on your own, as I was, you see how cold and unemotional they are, pure eating machines. I learnt how to walk on water that day:what:

I bet you did Armandii! Sharks are not a problem I'm ever likely to have. :)

At double the price, Makka, cos we're foreigners.!!!:D

Shineyland sounds a lot like Rutland, tiny and wanting to be independent. If you can keep all the Councils confused. [doesn't take much]. and milling around you might be able to raise the Shineyland flag and take them all over. If you introduce laws against "bean counters" and "jobs worth" you'll reduce the councils by 99%. :yess:

I'm surprised you don't go to church, Shiney, you know that Jesus wants you for a sunbeam don't you??:D

King Oscar isn't demanding because he's satisfied that all is well in his Kingdom and that he owns you:love30::love30::heehee:

Not quite like Rutland. They, apparently, do more rutting there :heehee:

One of our neighbours has a flagpole in his front garden and occasionally flies the flag of St Andrews or the Union Flag but most of the time he is flying the Skull and Crossbones :yess:. He patrols the western border of Shineyland :dbgrtmb:

All the other churchgoers got fed up with wearing sunglasses :)

Well, when the Government took Rutland off the map for a while, and tried to integrate it into Peterborough, there were a lot of Politicians in great danger of learning the meaning of Rut.:what:

The Great Army of Rutlanders was being mobilised to move onto London whilst running a campaign to get Rutland officially back when the English government decided to surrender to make Rutland appear on the map again.:yess: I've always liked the American Southern State flag of the coiled Rattler with the warning "Don't step on me"

Well, they say, Shiney, that the Sun shines on the Godly, but I have noticed that it shines on the Ungodly too.:heehee::heehee:

    .

LET NO ONE criticise THE Isle of Man or Scotland either, I met my wife who is a Scot there and we live in sunny Quedgeley now!
Quedgeley appears to be the melting pot of all UK people from all four corners of the Kingdom and nicer people I could not wish to meet.

BUT the nationalists and republicans from whatever part they come, only want to hate and destroy, kill and bomb, others of their (as it is now) country, for what, so that some egotistical maniac can be in charge!

Reading through some of the posts from north of the border, I can't help thinking that on a purely personal level I'd be very sad if Scotland broke its ties with the rest of the UK. How come Scotland didn't end up ruling England? (But I suppose it did, really, since James VI of Scotland became James I of England and Ireland.)
