First ones to create Great Britain as part of the Roman European Union under Gnaeus Julius Agricola in AD 80. Didn't work very well then, either :heehee:

YES! I have googled those and the Arum Italicum is just what it looks like from the information on there!!! Hurrah!

AND the poppy...... I am almost certain it's the Poppy Papaver "Pink Peony" now having seen the pictures - that image from Shiney (thank you!) is exactly like a poppy had growing last year - the flowers, etc.... I must have moved it or dropped some seeds - there were so many seed heads but I was most slovenly and left them outside in a little pot, which was then rained on!!! It would appear a couple of similar leaves are popping up on the patio however......!

I do not think it is the thistle now - though it does look very similar - but is not at all spikey in anyway - very smooth and kinda cabbage/succulent like leaves.... Still no flowers however.... it's currently in partial shade - in front of my lupin (which is flowering tremendously well considering last year it only produced leaves - but I only planted last year too - the first lupin I have EVER had success with! It must like the clay soil of fenland Cambridgeshire!!?? It did NOT like Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire!!!, or Stotfold, Herts either!!!!!)

Many thanks to you all!!! and apologies for my long ramble..... I do that....! :rolleyespink: :heehee: :o

    AKA Papaver Somniferum (Opium Poppy):

So be careful about making Arum root rolls/bagels topped with poppy seeds.
