I planted this one out from pot to border 2 months ago. It has sprouted, but the leaves are pale and some are brown. Is it dying? If so, how can I rescue it? It was nice, trim and very green when I bought it. I have not touched it since it was planted.

First it maybe needs watering but you need to much the base and or feed with a balanced feed. By all means cut down to the base but the undue stress its already under will kill it.

Lad, thanks for your response. I am a total newbie gardener, so I need basic advice. What do you mean by 'much the base'? The soil it was planted in is quite heavy and wet and it has had plenty of water.

It looks healthy, certainly doesn't look under stress and looking at your photo there's no sign of die back. The new growth is expected to be pale and will darken as it matures.

Give it a trim back into shape in early June. Make sure the sun's not too hot when you do it as you can scorch the plant. Ideally do it on an overcast day but if you do it on a hot day wait until later in the day when the sun's going down.

Ignore the post above. He sounds like a wind up merchant.

Hey, welcome to the site mate

I won't tell you how to suck eggs but without viewing the photo that was one hell of a prognosis.

I'm with Axl on this one, it looks in very good condition, nothing out of the ordinary (I can't see any brown leaves on that photo). Just keep it well watered which it looks like you're doing.

Don't really see a problem there ..The new spring growth would be lighter as it is very soft and luss.. This should darken with age

I spray my potted Box topiary plants with a folia feed (the one I use is based on Seaweed) which seems to cheer them up more quickly than other types of feed I have tried.

But your looks fine - the new foliage is that light Turquoise-y colour
