I want a Mattock, and these look ok but seem a bit cheap, will they do the job at £14.95. Traditional Garden Tools, Canterbury Forks - Chillington Tools Pick/Mattock, Chillington Pick/Mattock, Digging Hoes & Handles
Got mine from Wickes, made in the USA and has a very tough fibre glass shaft - I bough the matching pick axe at the same time and have used them extensively - it's £22 for the Contractors mattock, but it will last a lifetime. What for? to grub out weeds on my overgrown plot and later to earth up me spudgums. Also will be handy for attacking thieves with. :yess:
There's a lighter version of tool available for that sort of stuff than the likes of a heavy duty mattock. Will take a piccy tomorrow of what cost me £1.
I got a Chillington hoe with handle for my £1 at a car boot: It weighs about half as much as a mattock and is ideal for earthing up spuds, cutting/backfilling wide drills for peas, etc. and the 48" handle makes it easier on the back than using than using a heavy mattock which only has a 36" handle.
Looks just the job I think I will vist the car beeot sales first and probably get a better quailty tool for a lower price
Thought this might be of interest. 'Grub Hoe' is the term used to describe a diigging hoe like mine above (AKA Azada).
