That's exactly what he did Ziggy' Let them go dry in the hot weather we had, I remember him saying that he had opened a side panel and they were as dry as a bone and the plants leaves had started to wilt and go brown, So that is probably the reason for no sign of any spuds yet, They look fine now though since he has watered them,

I have found that it is surprisingly hard to keep container-grown spuds well enough watered. I think I water them well, but I'm always surprised how dry the compost is down the bottom of the container.

    *sobs* I won't take it personally :-p

What kind of feed do potatoes need and where can I find it? I read somewhere usual veg feed wasn't suitable and have no nurseries nearby. Last one just closed thanks to economy etc. And not a huge B&Q or home base fan and that's all that's left.

    Thank you :)

Moopants, I use 'growmore' on mine, sprinkled on the sides when planting them. Some people don't bother adding any more fertilizer if they put in enough manure when they plant. I like to boost them and use a tomato feed (liquid feed like Phostrogen, Tomorite or any cheap alternative) once a week, sprayed on with a watering can as a foliar feed.

    :D Hi Moopants,

You can make your own feed for nothing.

Get a large bucket or plastic dustbin (just got 4 of those off freecycle:thumbsup:)

Fill it full of water & press all your weeds into it. If you've got Comfrey & Nettles nearby then they will really help.

Smells like a dead Badger with B.O. :dbgrtmb:

Water it down before feeding crops & don't get any on your hands or you'll smell bad forever, like the bog of eternal stench.:D:dbgrtmb:
