    It's only May I know, but I popped into Wilko's today and they have started reducing certain garden items already;

Potato and onion sets are half price, allsorts of ornamental and fruit/veg things in those plastic bags are half price, fruit bushes are half price and re-useable potato, veg, strawberry bags are half price too (these in particular looked good value as they worked out at £1.50 for a pack of 2).

Those pots of veg seed you get in a paper pot with compost were 75% off I think (could have been half price though).

Their own branded seed packets are also 3 for the price of 2..

In the end I got a packet of 2 Nerine bulbs; very healthy firm bulbs with nice green shoots just emerging, for 98p.

I will be keeping an eye out over the coming weeks and months as further reductions will follow; last year I managed to get my veg seed from them very, very cheap; by the end of the summer I paid between 5p and 20p per packet for most of the seeds I needed!!!!

I looked in yesterday hoping that they'd be down to 75% off but it appears I was a day too early. I was hoping to get some more onion setts knocked down to 35p each to plant thickly in seed trays for a quick crops of large 'spring onions'.

Back in to Wilko's today and more stuff on sale; ALL seeds are half price, the seeds in kitchen starter pots (peppers, toms etc) are 10p!!, potato, veg, herb, strawberry bags are 10p each!! peat pots, window propergators, seed trays, cell trays, propergators are half price too.......time to fill you sheds etc..

I picked up a few packets of veg seed that's gone in the fridge for next year...:thumb: I know come the end of summer the seeds will be ridiculously cheap; 10-20p if there's any left, but at half price it's a good start :dbgrtmb:

I was in Wilkos only yesterday checking if any more stuff was reduced. I don't know if I'll be able to restrain myself until the watercans I ordered online are ready to collect instore. Somehow I always seem to be checking a day too early these days. They must wait until I leave the store before putting the signs up!

Several years ago I got some seeds for 1p/packet in Weymouth Wilkos - yes, I even check on the latest reductions when I'm on holiday.

If you get a watering can - ask for a full one.
On the way out could you please water the plants - no one in Wilkos seem to. We have 4 around here and the plants are dehydrated in all of them:scratch:
Mind you there's always loads of 20p deals - not been tempted yet.:stirpot:

The watering issue must depend on each different store, one thing I always notice with ours is that they water all the plants every morning just after opening :thumb:

I got all excited when I saw the seed display with packets labelled 50% off PLUS the 'Buy 2 get 1 free' signs still up, meaning a possible 67% off, but then I noticed not all the packets had reduced stickers on, and a couple of trial purchases of 3 pkts each time (of seeds that I actually needed) I found out that reduced pkts no longer were on BTGOF.

Oh well, these things sometimes happen, and yes they probably will be reduced further, but not with such a good selection still left. I was initially thinking it might be another of those credit card 'suspicious activity' events, as I'd have to of made numerous multiple purchases of same cost seeds to avoid getting just all the cheapest ones free.

I recall loads of gardening stuff being reduced when a local newpaper costing about 45p had a £2 off a £10 spend @ Wilkos voucher in it and I was in and out for ages spending £10 each time on reduced gardening stuff and cheap sugar for homebrew (plus I had all that newspaper for mulching with).

Been in today and picked up a roll of 'Times Up' copper tape (75% off); ideal for wrapping round pots to keep slugs and snails off, it's always worked for me :thumb: :D

Didn't see any copper tape, but they were reducing rolls of bamboo screening to 75% off yesterday. I seem to have missed their reduced bamboo canes that I've heard about else where.

At Tesco's just bought 2 boxes of Phostrogen All Purpose plant food .... £1 per box (800 grams in a box) ... Tesco is also having a clearance sale of all their garden related stuff

Have recently added a high nitrogen fertilizer to a lawn that is in a small garden that I am landscaping .... the lawn has greened up nicely in the past 2 weeks, and hope this Phostrogen will feed the roots etc

has a formulation of 14:10:27 plus trace elements so should do the trick ...

I aerated the lawn prior to using the high nitrogen fertilizer ... (the lawn was in a sorry state and had brown patches as it was negelected)

not sure if Phostrogen is slow release, but will use miracle gro granules on the lawn as a last feed in autumn (after the last cut) ... £2.50 per large tub at Tesco
