So we are talking about many hours cycling...what would you make sure is not missing in your luggage?
I would start with: rainjacket, spray against mosquitoes, sun lotion, first aid kit, lighter, paper map...

I've cycled as far as Wales and Dartmoor, carrying camping gear, done the London to Brighton Ride (including to London & back), Round Bristol (plus there and back), etc., and consider the most essential item is Beer Money.

So for 'proper' cycling touring that would mean:

Of course, if you're going to cycle through Wales, this presents special challenges which can't always be resolved by good packing. Welsh signs, for example. The English is clear enough: 'Cyclists Dismount'. The Welsh, however, hints at terrible problems ahead for the non Welsh-speaking Sais. Roughly translated, it reads: 'Bladder Inflammation Upset'. Those cheap translator thingys really are the pits.

When you say throughout the UK, will you be passing through Acton ?

First time I went on a walking holiday in Wales I kept seeing signs pointing to a village that I couldn't find on any of my maps. It was only after I got home that I found out it was Welsh for 'Public Footpath'.

I am barely planning for the future, but in answering your question I would say I don't think so, because Acton is somewhere in west London if I remember and I would not bike within London. I would like to use some country lanes where i will not be runned over.

'Llwybr Cyhoeddus'. I'm not sure I'm ever going to win my struggle with the Welsh language, but it is wonderful.

That one went straight over your head Paula,:D

                  "
                  There was a baboon
                  Who one afternoon
Said "I think I shall fly to the sun"
                  So with two great palms
                  Strapped to his arms
                  He started his takeoff run
                  Mile after mille
                  He Galloped in style
But never once left the ground
                  "You're running too slow"
                  Said a passing crow
"Try reaching the speed of sound"
So he put on a spurt
                  By God how it hurt
The soles of his feet caught fire
There were great clouds of steam
As he ran through a stream
But he still didn't get any higher
                  Racing on through the night
                  Both his knees caught alight
And smoke billowed out from his rear
                  Quick to his aid
                  Came a Fire Brigade
Who chased him for over a year
                  Many moons passed by
                  Did Baboon ever fly?
Did he ever get to the sun?
                  I've just heard today
That he's well on his way
He'll be passing through Acton at one"
