I've got two things which really annoy me.

Why doesn't all compost (particularly the larger quantities) come in re-sealable bags? Some does I know, but none of the 120L bags I've bought this year has this facility. Yes, I do fold over the tops of part bags (and usually put something on the top too), but often little beasties still manage to crawl their way in, or rain runs in and makes heavy bags even heavier not to mention the windblown seeds that find their way in.

And .. why do all seed packets open at the bottom?

You open the envelope, drop out the foil pouch containing the seeds, plant those you want and then, what .....? You've got a nice little envelope with a convenient slot in the top for popping over a twig or some such to stick in the corner of your seed tray but nowhere to store the foil pouch and, half the time, nothing on the pouch to indicate what seeds are inside.

What I find annoying is when I am doing someone's garden and have lots of elaborate ideas to either enhance it aesthetically or promote biodiversity via wildlife-friendly techniques, preferably both - yet all they are concerned with is having it look tidy and boring ("I just want that lot ripping out...just get rid of all the weeds...") or are openly hostile to the idea of wildlife gardening and/or have most of the garden paved. Its clear that their only interest in a garden is to raise the value of their house by a few quid. These people are to gardens what the viewers of the X Factor are to music! Seeing as I only garden on a casual basis, I like to feel I can really go to town with it, so it is frustrating to come up against such uninspiring, bland attitudes.

Why do so many people seem to want to 'cover' their gardens? My neighbours have a perfectly good garage, yet they've had their entire front garden covered in block paving. Others, who started with a patio have subsequently had that covered by a conservatory so, when a new patio went down, 'it made sense' (according to them anyway) to take it right up to the deck - which means they now have a 'proper' place for the barbecue which, once it's moved, will conveniently leave a nice area quite close to the house where they can put the hot-tub.

It's their garden of course, they can do what they like, but I just wish, when she accepts my tomatoes, raspberries, beans, cucumbers, strawberries, potatoes, lettuce etc., she didn't always say 'Oooh, I wish we had somewhere to grow things' - so far, I've resisted the temptation to say 'Well you did ... once'.

I did my sister's garden last week, and I had a lot of ideas in my head (I even drew out some plans of what I wanted to do) and my sister liked the ideas, but gradually over doing it, it got so far away from what I had wrote down, it was such a boring garden because they kept moaning about everything.. so now it's a boring square part of lawn with flower beds running along the top and right hand side of it, and then the rest is barked :wallbang:

I had plans to put an arch splitting the grass and bark up, with some nice climbers going up it, but instead they didn't want it.. no idea why!

        Being tailgated at 70mph.

Think I might make a sticker saying "Do you really want to see what my tow bar will do to the front of your car ? Or are you going to back off before I slam the brakes on ?

(My last bumper sticker said "There are no Owls left in this van overnight")

          Garden netting.

After moving into our house nearly 11 months ago I had nothing but lawn, a blank canvas I thought. But as I started to cut into the lawns for beds, sheds, greenhouse etc. I found myself being overcome with this horrid green plastic netting.

This wasn't above ground either, this was about an inch below the surface and making the job of taking up the turf even more difficult. It's not just here and there either, it's everywhere! I've dug most of it out now but still don't understand why someone would just bury garden netting an inch below the soil.

I'm currently re seeding a new lawn and am having to use it to keep the birds and cats off. It's such a pain to use and breaks so easily.

Jane, it`s what modern turf producers do to prevent the sods of grass from falling apart, and I agree, it is a pain in the rectum.:dbgrtmb::dbgrtmb:

When you open a door for someone or hold a door open for someone either at the shops or in a public place ,and you do not get a thank you :fingerdrum:. Two week's ago i was in a hotel which was holding a private table games cards etc afternoon for the elderly locals .
The games had finished and all the elderly were leaving the games room i opened the room glass doors to assist an old lady who had 2 walking sticks and was so stooped over when she walked all she could see was the ground. there were 2 younger women with her. when i held the doors open the 2 younger ones ignored me as if i was part of the wall..
In the End i got a laugh:). as the old lady was passing me she said:).

OH WHAT A LOVELY PAIR OF SHOES THAT GENTLEMAN IS WEARING:heehee:.

one thing that annoys me is associated dairies (ASDA), ive given up going in there. i go in as nice as you like and end up standing in a queue seething that the person in front cant enter thier PIN number because thier arms are weighed down with carrier bags. THINK!

then the cashier says "sorry for the wait", WHAT?, it wasnt your fault! it was that bumbling package of ineptitude that was in front of me.

....pay cash, fill rucksack, leave store (very rapidly). job done. dusts hands.

              yours

(a very) grumpy old man ;)

Herbi, you can`t blame ASDA for the ineptitude of their customers. ALL shops/supermarkets have the same problem.
