Having undertaken a large garden project on for myself, empty/move shed prepare site for new greenhouse
After I had re-built the shed and filling it again, I decided to ditch all my hoardings destined for the council Skip

One of my hoardings were 300 locks for gym lockers/machines all brand new in their polly bags
A previous employment I had, consisted of changing all the odd key locks for one master lock, fit new ditch old, Well I ditched them into a steel bucket in the car
Thinking "What a waste" skipping them I took them to the local locksmith a private business

I introduced myself, and showed him a bag of ten locks and there were 290 others outside in my boot
I told him of my intentions of rather than skipping them he could have them for FREE a shame to go to waste
I provided provenance, my licence as a locksmith/gaming/casino engineer

He said, Oh we give these things away

I said so why have you got them in your display cabinet here at the counter at £22 each, I do not want anything for them, just do not wish to see them in a skip

Fair enough I will bin them then

OH OK I will take them from you

I had no intention of asking anything for them £6000 YES £6000 not even a thankyou
After a twelve mile round trip to take them there, I expected a thank you

What business would have liked £6k of stock injected for free They would have at least said thanks mate

Nothing lost, as I was skipping them just a smile a chat and thanks would have been nice

Damn I forgot to save one for my shed :heehee:

E-Bay would probably have been the way to go Jack. You can sell anything on there.

On the bright side, you knew where to get one and how much it'd cost!

Yup, definitely ebay. Never bin anything until you've had a look on there.

On reflection I should have kept them six more months
Then when retired, go around gyms and golf clubs offering to replace locks on lockers for a tenner a shot

Err NO My gym has several / a dozen lockers with lost keys or broken locks
I offered to fit new ones free
        Sorry mate ELF AND SAFETY
You have to have insurance to work
Absolutely daft, it was a "friend" doing something for a "friend" IMHO
(well a member doing something for his club) I was hardly going to offer to do it free then say I have damaged my hand I want ten thousand compo
Though sadly I suppose those people do exist and they could not take the risk

Oh well thoughts over, they have gone, I have an empty draw in the shed for some garden stuff :-)
