Hi I have done this before

From the new growth this year (the bendy stuff)

from the tip of the plant measure about 6 inches down then cut under a pair of leaves by the nobly bit , then remove those two bottom leaves.

Then cut out the growing tip, dip the end going into the pot into hormone rooting powder , get a 4 inch pot and you can use a multi-purpose but mix in more grit , using a pencil push in along the side of the pot and put the cutting up to the next set of leaves in and slightly firm put in about 4 cuttings. push in 3 small canes about 8 inches high and then water put into a clear platic bag and put somwhere in the shade and then leave alone , check if any leaves that have fallen off need removing , in about six weeks you should see roots coming out of the bottom of the pot , what I do then is pierce the platic bag with a couple of small holes to get the plants use to living out side then leave for two weeks then finaly remove the bag keep in light shade not full sun , I would leave in pot growing over thye winter in a green house then repot in the spring

Spruce, why cut out the growing tip? Dave, an easier way is to layer the plant. Take one of the stems and lay it on the soil. At every leaf node pin the plant down, just use some fairly strong wire bent into an elongated " U ". Leave until the end of the season. Hopefully, when you check then, each of the leaf nodes will have produced roots. Sever these cuttings from the parent plant and pot up. This method can be used on any ( botanical ) climber.

Iam sure you know the answer :yess:

But I should of explained better , I always take the tips out so It helps to create a plant with more than just one stem ie bushy / multi stem / not leggy etc........

I thought my way was easier :loll:
We do things diffrent in the South to the East :dunno::hapfeet:
