First year with the containers and bags and it has been going great.
Decided to try the first bag of spuds this week. It was a small bag that only topped up to about a foot and half, two foot because I used all my compost on the others. So it was no great loss if it was empty but we got a nice surprise with about 4lb of spuds. I have not tasted potatoes that good for years possibly when we had a small allotment as a kid.
These were kestrel second earlies going to try a bag of sharp express today. The kids love it too and I am under orders not too touch them until they get back from town :)

Well done captain, they do look good. You've got a nice sheltered oasis there.

Hello, I'm a new member so have only just seen Captains post about the spuds. We had our first container grown potatoes on May 29th, harvested 1.2kg from a 12" pot - variety Maris Peer. I planted them first week March and took a chance with the weather, which turned out very mild for us in the Noth East. As Capt. says, nothing tastes quite so good as your own first crop. I have to say Captain, your veg-plot / pots / etc., look stunning!!

Just put some chitted tiddies in yesterday. Should get a small crop before the weather goes back to Siberian.

Will earth these ones up with 4" of wood chip. Did that last year & the tubers were fine even after the snow & minus 15c
