Happy Father's Day to all the GC Dads :yay:

I got the "Garden to Kitchen Expert: How to cook vegetables, fruit, flowers, herbs and weeds" by Dr Hessayon:

First glance it looks really good, given me loads of ideas already and making me hungry reading the recipes.

Also got some Garden vouchers and some posh Wilkos slate plant markers (OK I know posh and Wilkos don't normally go together, but these do look nice)

As well as a weeks supply of sweets which will last me till abot 10am.

A tray of hot (Quorn) sausage rolls baked by my daughetr and waiting for me when Mrs Scrungee and I returned from shopping was a pleasant surprise.

What wasn't much of a surprise was my card, as we found a card shop closing down several years ago selling off cards at £1 for a carrier bag stuffed full. Unfortunately for both my Father in Law and I all the Fathers Day cards were the same. At least it's only every other year I get the same birthday card.

OH got, along with a boring work shirt which he needed, some of his favourite dark chocs from Hotel Chocolat. He even managed to eat a few of them before son number 2 started pigging them. Still, we got our own back by making our offspring walk around a garden in the horrible fresh air.

In addition to baking some of favourites for me this morning, as it's Fathers Day my daughter (only one more GCSE to revise for now) also came to the plot and spent nearly three hours helping with weeding, picking strawberries & raspberries, watering, planting up the poly tunnel borders and emptying a few potato bags.

I'm glad she still shows almost as much enthusiasm for unearthing spuds as she did when she was a few years old (and as I still do), so tomorrow we'll have warm potato (Charlotte) salad with a dressing made from the last knockings of the mayonnaise jar (Mrs Scrungee doesn't waste anything) shaken up with some vinegar, oil & chopped garlic chives.

Not a sausage here. Still, what I don`t get I don`t have to thank them for.

                        A stag beetle? :heehee:

My husband is away as the minute so the daughters sent their gifts to America - with luck he got 6 boxes of Maltesers!! Don't ask - it's just that he's got this 'thing' about Maltesers and ever since they were little the girls have given them to him on Father's Day. It started off with one bag each when they were small, it's now got to 2 boxes from each of them. Like I said .... don't ask!

Electric clippers to better manage the box hedging which is growing well - great gift, also taken out for dinner by my son ( the other half's away on holidqay).
