Yep, its a jackmanii Louise. It get blasted with full sun until the late afternoon.

That Empress is very pretty, a bit fussy/ over elaborate for me personally though.

I love getting a garden centre bargain! I get a warm smug feeling whenever I see a plant Ive rescued thats doing well!

You're absolutely right about the fussiness of Empress !
I've always liked Josephine and when i saw this one i was reminded of her, i read up on Empress when i got home and it's actually a Josephine mixture !!!

I've got that many clems that i've actually lost count and i've got all types too but this is definately the fussiest :WINK1:
Belle of Woking and the non-pruned Piilu are both 'a-bit-fussy-doubles' but this one takes the biscuit :D
    Infact i've another fussy-ish one - purpurea plena elegans .... that's in flower so i'll post a pic, she's gorgeous :D

We have 15 clems dotted around the garden and I can't remember the names of any of them :dunno:. We bought them last year from The Range at 5 for £10 :dbgrtmb:

Some didn't flower this year but most of them did.

Here are a few that I took photos of.

The white one was lovely. The flowers were pretty large but the ruffed edges helped to stop them from looking too plain. :dbgrtmb: All those three bloomed in May.

I will be planting 2 Clematis in a garden that I am landscaping at present .... they will be planted together against a 2 1/2 meter wide fence panel ... height of the panel is 1.8m and is south facing

          Clematis Bourbon

          Clematis Celebration - Taylors Clematis

both are new varieties and both flower from May till September ...

close to where these (in another part of the garden), I have planted 2-Fiona sunrise jasmines (the ones with the yellow and lime green leaves), so hopefully, this will look ok and 'brighten up' the area

I like the look of both of them, Dim and think your planting will look gorgeous there.
How did you decide on those 2 clems ?

thanks Louise ... I am currently landscaping a small garden ... on the main bed, I have planted 2 palms (Chamaerops Humilis), a Japanese maple ... several large leaved hostas (some yellow leaved) .... some evergreen ferns ... a few heucheras and japanese forest grass (hakonechloa maca Auerola) on the edging

the back of the wall has 2 fiona sunrise creepers (yellow/lime green leaves)

the area where the 2 clematis creepers will be is on the right of the main bed, and hope the yellow leaved clematis matches the fiona sunrise jasmine leaves (yellowish) ....

there is a lot more to the garden which is not in the pics, but am nearly done now, and looking OK ... the plants planted are still 'babys' and will take a few seasons to mature ...

I have got 3 more orders in the same village for similar style landscaping, so seems that some like my 'style' of choice

Tsk, Shiney, you are awful :heehee:

Dim, that garden will look great, i hope your clients really appreciate what they have there.

I adore the Hakonechloa's and have 2 here, they do really well and are gorgeous looking plants.
Are the Chamaerops slow or fast growers ?
I was tempted with a couple i saw at a garden centre last week but they were only about 2.5' high and if i bought one i'd want a larger one, wondered just how long they'd take to 'get going' !

This picture gives you an indication of the dryness of the place :(
