Not in this country you didn`t. How many Colorado Beetle did you see while protecting Great Britain? How many Ladybird larvae did you wipe out in the same period? You don`t have a clue, do you?:D

well it wasn't just the potato patch.. and we didn't only eat what we grew.. but my mother still says if it wasn't for the allotment we'd starve in the 90s

I remember when I were a lad, there was a large illustrated poster in the local post office, warning of the dangers of colorado beetle. I think in the 50s there was a real danger of them infesting potato crops. But, I must confess, I've never seen a colorado beetle since then.

So, I think I must agree with the others, they are very rare in this country.

BTW, the leaves on my potoatoes growing a in a sack are riddled with holes. Should I be worried?:what:

Oh damn, of course I meant 3-4 HUNDRED sq m!
Gotta stop posting on forums at 5 am :thud:

My parents' allotment was about 10-12 hundred sq m to start with, but then my mum bought another one almost as big, and that was in times we no longer needed home-grown. And she does have a full-time job, too.

well, depends how big the holes and how many of them. If they're turning your potato plants into a sieve, I'd be a bit worried. Because as I said earlier on you need the green bit to photosynthesize and produce all the sugars that are to be stored in the tubers. Otherwise you'll only harvest seed potato.
