Garlic

    Can one use surplus garlic around Oct/Nov to plant for next year.

    Yes. I never buy 'seed' garlic, except if I'd had a case of white rot as I don't want to risk losing next years crop and spreading it around. I also plant in several locations in case one gets affected so I've always backups. Save your best bulbs for replanting and eat the rest.

    Hi Golfer,

    Only if its organic, if its supermarket stuff then chances are its been sprayed with growth inhibitor to prolong its shelf life.

    The cloves will grow but will only produce tiny blubs.

    Good point about white rot Scrunge:thumbsup: Best to dip in fungicide first, you don't know the history if its not seed garlic.

    I had 5000 blubs wiped out by it:cry3:

    I'm assuming in my post above that golfer was thinking about 'surplus' garlic from his crop of Morado Garlic posted on this thread: golfer's Morado Garlic

    Yes Golfer. If it's your own garlic it's the only sensible thing to do. I've been planting my own garlic for years.

      Yes its surplus which i planted last Oct Morado also Wight Garlic and Germiouder.
