I shop in Waitrose. Posh? Me? Nah! I go regularly - once every year without fail .... it's the only place around here where I can buy jars of whole Allspice to use in my tomato relish recipe!!

:) Don't you dare find fault with Waitrose :WINK1:
Mrs. Roders has bought into the concept of the personal service ,friendliness of the staff(no attitude),no queuing, no constant hum, pushing and shoving of Tescos and other large supermarkets.....and they do have a pricematch with Tesco's.
I have been and witnessed this very pleasant shopping experience.....and they do a very nice Cappuccino :dbgrtmb:.

      Sorry Shiney ,I digressed.

      Hi roders,

I've always found the service at the store friendly and impeccable. :dbgrtmb:

The senior staff said to me that they are as annoyed as I am as they get this problem every month. They report back to head office but seem to get nowhere and they asked me to complain as it might get something done.

Surely it seems good business to stock things that they are plugging in their magazine. The idea of promoting something is to sell it to as many people as possible. Not stocking it is counterproductive and, in this case, upsets the staff and the customer. Apart from the staff member getting frustrated she also wasted 10 minutes trying to find the items.

I had made a special journey for the products and they didn't have either of them.

Ziggy, who's that and what on earth is he doing?

I would love to shop in Waitroses but there isn't one for miles around up here. So I settle for Asda and Sainsburys. In both stores I've always found then extremely helpful, obliging and courteous. When I had my knee trouble, they would provide me with assistance to get around the store, go through the checkout and take my goods out to the car.

Mind you, there was a time when I complained in Sainsburys about three shelf stacker lads playing footie with the joints of beef, kicking them back and forth to one another across the aisle! When I called the manager down to see, he just shrugged his shoulders and said "No big deal, they're wrapped, aren't they?"

Is it just me or has the meaning of 'threaten' drifted somewhat recently? People are routinely threatened by all kinds of things these days, poor lambs.

OH was stuck in a difficult meeting recently, trying to get a rather useless lady in a cardigan to answer his direct question with a direct answer. 'I'm feeling very threatened here,' she said, as though he had pulled out an AK-47 and waved it at her.

I worry about these people. What on earth will they do if they are ever unfortunate enough to find themselves in a genuinely malevolent situation?

No, it's not you. For example - Mr. F'smum recently had an Outpatients appointment at our local hospital (for which, I might add, he specifically flew back from Washington DC!). His appointment was for 10.15 - since parking is either impossible or so expensive you need a second mortage, I drop him off, go home and he'll ring for a lift home when done. We get there at 10.00 but by 2.25p.m. I'm thinking, have they kept him in, is he dead? I return to the hospital arriving about 3 p.m. and ..... he is still waiting. Being a man, he'll sit there until he dies of old age, so I speak to something in a uniform who again just shrugs and tells me they're 'running late.' Running? They haven't even broken into a slow jog! With great patience I point out extremely politely, that even their website says '.. Waiting times in Outpatients' clinics should not exceed 1 hour beyond your appointment time' and this is now 4 hours. At which point I'm told that if I threaten the staff any more I will be asked to leave ..... or removed.

We saved them the trouble, we removed ourselves. Mr. F'smum returned home, made a couple of 'phone calls and was seen privately, at the same hospital, by the same Consultant 2 days later - the consultation took exactly 11½ minutes!!!!

These days, 'threaten' seems to mean any comment made for which I don't have, or will have to go and find, an answer - a definition which means I'm threatened at least 20 times a day :heehee:

Fidgetsmum, I would have complained to hospital admin that the member of staff was threatening you and you and your OH were so upset that you had to leave!
