    hello i am new on here, i have this house plant, i grow it from seed every year, many years ago, when i was 1st given the plant i was told it is a russian rose, but i think i have been fibbed to as i can not find it anywhere, does anyone know what it is,
    i have an allotment and i grow lots of them and give them away, but i dont feel right telling people" i think it is a russian rose"
    i would love to know what it is

      I agree with Dave, it appears to be Impatiens balsamina which I grew many years ago in Bucks. I couldn't get it going here I guess because of the heat. A truly beautiful plant.

          It looks beautiful - I'd also like to try growing it from seed - does it flower in it's first year?

            dead easy to grow, yes it flowers in the 1st year, it is an annual

            i would set seeds away over the whole season then you can have flowers most of the year, one lads puts his in so late it is just coming into flower in september:thumbsup:
            then keep the seeds for next year
            and share the love

            thanks for the info Victoria, defo looks like it, and it looks like they are outdoor flowers as well, i will try that next year,
            my mum recons she used to have them years ago in her garden ( i cant remember them, but i do have a shocking memory):heehee:
            i will feel so much better telling people the right name of them
