Hi Josie, I sowed the seeds around the 10th August, so its taken around 8-9 weeks for them to flower :thumb:

With the amount of buds on them I expect they'll be flowering for a while yet

Hi Harry, I would be quite happy growing them outside as 'tropical bedding', I would think starting them off inside around late March to May would be ideal, then harden off after the last frost and I think they'll be fine.

I was just too impatient lol :D (probably because they're Impatiens - sorry that's bad :rolleyespink:), I hope to collect some seed from these though to try nect year outside :thumb:

Here's a couple more pics of the 'double'; its now lost its definite purple hue that it had as it was opening and is now red but still equally stunning :thumb:

Pretty much, its probably more like SSW....it recieves sun from early afternoon to sunset; it is a very warm windowsill. Every plant or seed I've grown on it has thrived, just have to be careful not to get water on the leaves on sunny days :thumb:

Thanks Bilbo. I was asking because I don't have ANY room in any of my south windows. Already occupied by cuttings and tropicals. I only have room on an east window sill but it doesn't get much sun.....

bilbo, you plants are further on than mine, they look great
            that double is fab,
i might be asking you for some seeds:WINK1:
mine are in the conservatory, but they are not getting that much sun, i have a fair few buds, but no where near yours
the pink ones i planted earlier are only small about 12 inches, they are flowering but they are about 1/3 of the size of the summer ones

i still have some pink seeds (1st pic) if anyone wants some for next year, inside and outside planting :dbgrtmb:

It is interesting that the original pink one has grown no more than 10-12" in height where as the 'mixed' ones are pushing 3ft and are very sturdy.

Early doors I know but depending on how many seed (if any :D) I get if anyone wants any you're welcome :thumb:
