What it is a tree has fallen into my mums garden from across the river and caused a lot of damage, they told her that it will cost over a grand for it to be removed but because its not in her garden would the council pay for it?

    Thanks

    Hi Julieanddave,

    Welcome to Gardeners Corner,

Whoever owns the tree is responsible for any damage it has caused. The timber still belongs to them even if it has fallen on your Mums land.

I presume the quote is from a tree surgeon & that it includes removing the timber. If so, make sure the owner of the tree knows it is being taken away and is in agreement with it.

I'd like the tree surgeons job, your Mum is offering him free firewood that he can sell on at £3.50 a bag and he's charging her a grand:what:

    Where abouts are you?

    Hi julieanddave,

why has the tree fallen down?
My opinion: whoever owns the tree should deal with it in case the reason of the fall is a natural calamity.
