A new home in the same old garden that is!
My garden plans were recently thwarted when I was offered a flimsy tin shed for naught! How could I resist - it was free, and being a squeaker I couldn't help myself!
As I write this, I'm peering out the window waiting fora load of 3x2's being delivered, to be used as a base for said freebie.
And there in lies the problem - in the best place to site this shed, I have just laid some new turf, and my sunflowers are charging on. The turf has rooted into the fresh topsoil, and has stopped looking quite so "dead".
How safe is it to move my turf and sunflowers? Should I try to keep as much soil as possible attached to the turf and plant roots? Should I water them first and give them a wee drinky? The sunflowers will probably be getting planted straight away, but the turf might have to rough it out for the best part of a day - maybe overnight.
Just thought I'd ask before I get my shovel out add another "DIY disaster" to my ever expanding list of diy disaster stories :D and give the wife more ammo to prevent me doing more fun DIY stuff, and buying fun things like nail guns and chainsaws doh!

    Hi

    All about planing ahead :heehee:

The turf should be easy to take up you may even be able to roll it up, how long has it been down ??
I would probably water the day before then take off or you could end up with a right soggy mess, the lawn will be ok for a day , but you will need to replant ASAP and then water every day as we are in July .
The sunflowers you will need a big root ball , but should be ok if you replant straight away and water everyday day until they recover.
Have you a piece of the garden ready to take the lawn you are taking up.

    Its all in the prep

I would shove the tin shed in the cornesr :yess: I bet thats what the wife is thinking as well :dancy:
Go on treat us all to a photo

    Thanks Spruce

All is well this morning, no wilted sunflowers, and the turf hasn't all turned yellow (yet lol)...
Just got to carry about 20 3x2 slabs from the front around the back :love30:
And as for a photie... will start a thread in the projects section since this is a sort of project...
