You're saying it was a cloche Ziggy, i'm assuming the glass was convex not flat? Convex glass would certainly act as a lens, I don't see how a flat piece of glass could do so much damage so quickly... unless you're in a tropical jungle whilst impersonating a modest British gardener! :WINK1:

If I remember anything from my school physics course, flat glass shouldn't focus light much if at all. Otherwise we could never grow anything on our windowsills and our curtains would have burn holes in them...

      Hi Idig,

One was a flat argon filled double glazing unit, the other was a piece of twinwall polycarbonate.

Those sheets propped against the bean poles. I'm trying to grow Yardlong beans, the wind killed the first lot stone dead even after they had been hardened off for 2 weeks. I'm protecting the new sowing, but they are still very slow to get away.

Not sure what its like further down south in ziggyland? but here in Pottyland there is no shortage of water falling:dbgrtmb:

The rain is just clearing out of West Bay now, back out in the garden in a minute.

Just caught Sis trying to google Taraxacum:runhills:

Rain stopped here & the sun came out for half an hour:sunny:
Reminds me of when the Mrs shouted up the stairs that the sun had come out, I put my shorts on, grabbed the sunglasses & sunblock, rushed downstairs only to find the Son holding hands with his friend Nigel:DOH:
