    Hi folks.

Around three years ago I bought some of these from T&M. In the write-up they said that they can grow up to 8ft tall, and they showed a picture of some towering over someones head. I have to admit I was a bit sceptical at the time but "worth a try" I thought. Anyway, this is how they look now.

They stand at well over 6ft. I can't say I'm over impressed by the colours, but the blooms are large and overall, they make quite striking plants, I think. There are several off-shoots, some of which are also in flower, lower down. I had an attack from the dreaded Lily Beetle earlier in the year, but thanks to Marley, I was able to get rid of them.

    Cheers...Freddy.

      Hi Spruce.

They do several colours, including what looks like white speckled with pink. Here's the link Thompson-Morgan - Search Results for tree lilies

      Cheers...Freddy.

Thanks Freddy, one more question, did they flower in their first year or have they taken 3 years to flower?

          Hiya John.

Yes, they flowered in the first year, if I remember right, they were around 3ft tall.

          Cheers...Freddy.

Hi folks, just thought I'd share a pic of how they're doing so far this year. They seem to be growing in number. There are at least 18 good sized plants, with other off-shoots. Bearing in mind I started off with 9 bulbs, not bad. Sorry about the poor picture quality....

Oh yes, I spotted a few Lily Beetles on them... I'll sort them tomorrow

            Cheers...Freddy

Once they're ready to stay out i will be transferring them over to larger tubs :)

                Hiya Sweet Pea:)

I might be missing something, but for some reason I'm thinking that they are fully hardy? Mine have been left in the ground since I planted them, around 4 years ago, and we've had some very hard winters in the last couple of years. So, I was wondering, why did you not plant them direct into their final container?

                Hi Freddy :)
I read somewhere online to protect from the frost.... so just thought i would leave them in the greenhouse.
Do you think it'll be ok to put them out now then?

                Hiya Sweet Pea.

Well, as you can see, mine are in situ, and have been since I got them. I'm not saying that I'm guaranteeing their hardiness, but if I were you, I'd get them planted out pronto, but try to harden them off first:blue thumb:

Normally planted about 6" deep I think (best to check online though ...) in which case those pots may need to be planted a couple of inches deeper perhaps?

Some drainage under them (if you are on heavy soil) would probably be prudent.

I have lots of Lilies in deep "Rose" pots, with the intention of "placing" them when they are in flower so I can get the best location for them, and then I'll plant them.

Hi all I have a 10 foot wall going all the way down my garden and bought 15 of these tree lilies to plant against the wall I have the bulbs just siting in trays of compost at the moment because I am having a bit of a garden make over. Am I too late to plant them.
