      Blimey !!

My friend was stationed at a radar station in Norfolk in the 1980s. He and his colleage tracked something flying pretty much in the middle of the North Sea, changing course to keep away from the uk & europe.

Not so strange you might think, except it was travelling at Mach 7.

The page of the log book was torn out by a senior officer & they were told not to mention it again.

I thought I recognised the type of Chopper, Capney. I must say you look very "tidy" for a ground crew!!! On Treble One Squadron we were a mucky lot, always covered in DERV and Avtag, stained overalls, long haired, much to the disgust and rage of the Station Warrant Officer [God bless him]. Having said that we kept all 13 aircraft flying no matter what, and never lost one due to a servicing problem.!!!

I also served at Midland Radar [Type 84 radar] servicing the consoles and radar equipment. We kept a file on reported UFO's and, sad to say, we never saw one on radar and the file remained empty while I was there for 5 years. If we had seen one on the radar it would have been a subject of great excitement and no secret as we on Midland Radar were a very tight community. I have never heard of any Officer or NCO trying to hide or destroy any evidence of anything controversial no matter what the subject, there were too many intelligent, independent, "Rebels" in the RAF for things to be smokescreened.

I don't believe in UFOs though. as I don't believe in Ghouls and Ghosties and things that go bump in the night, mainly because I've never seen any. So I don't think the thing on the crest of the hill is a UFO. Per arda per astra.

Now let's not jump to conclusions here......:D
Agree Gogs, there's likely to be a perfectly logical explanation, such as a parachute, some kind of large bird perhaps or even another aircraft.

On a beautiful summers day, in August 1976, I was looking after my stepfathers pigeon loft. While waiting for some birds to come back from a traininf toss, I had the other birds out around the loft. All of a sudden, as one, they shot back into the loft. I thought they`d seen a hawk. When I looked up, there was a black, disc shaped object in the sky a few miles away. It was rising in a strange way. If you can imagine how a leaf falls, swaying side to side, well this was doing that only rising. After a few minutes it had reached such a height it just accelerated out of site. So yes I DO believe.:dbgrtmb:

There was some odd stuff going on in 1976 Dai, strange knockings from underneath Cornwall too, and the Brotherhood of Man topping the charts.

Capney, bearing in mind how close you and the chopper are to the hill and making the comparison in size, I think it's probably a bird the size of a heron.

I've also scrutinized it under a magnifying glass and I don't think the shape is symetrical enough for a ufo.

I bet you're going to tell us shortly what it really is. :)
