    Oh, no.

I was not mocking at all Dai, only joking about the Brotherhood of Man:dbgrtmb:

I was in the ATC at the time & was told by the Officer that the knockings was us building missile silos pointed at the usa.

I said I thought they were our allies, he said that things could change:(

Could be a cloud, could be anything, however i do like to believe a little.

In 1978ish, i watched from the window of my sister's bedroom, with my sister, as 2 lights in the sky were moving around in not the normal aircraft way. It was early evening, just starting to get dark, I was only 9 years old, so UFO's were not even in my thoughts, but it was so strange, i have remembered it ever since.

      Strange, but true

The ufo is approximately helicopter shaped. The rotor blades/wings/massive fan thing (whatever the top spinny bit is called) wont show in the photo at that range because light saturation would blur them out in the photo.

There's beer called 'Cornish Knocker'. Its not that great but last time I was down that way I brought several bottles back for friends, just so we could make childish banter about the name:)

Is that one, two or tree, Jack:D

The subject of UFO's is a real stirrer for argument. There's the believers who say they've seen a UFO, there's those that believe but haven't seen, the don't knows, the sceptical and the downright disbelievers. We had the nearly the lot in the RAF, although I never met or heard of anyone who'D seen a UFO. Dai's obviously a believer, is there anyone else out there who believes in UFO's??

Ziggy, with a hand on my heart I can say I have the greatest respect for the ATC but no officer in the ATC would have access to any information such as he was quoting, especially because he wasn't actually in the RAF and in the thick of things so to speak. There were "bangings" in Wales, Cheshire, Shropshire etc as well and I have no idea of the real cause but I do think your officer was trying to look like a serious player.

            Me.

On one hand, its impossible not to believe in UFOs, because every flying object is a UFO until somebody identifies it.

But really, I think there are flying objects that we can't identify (even with big radar systems and all the expert knowledge on hand). Whether they are aliens or not, I somehow doubt (I don't doubt the existence of life on other planets, just doubt they'd bother or have the capability to come here). I think there are natural phenomenon that still needs to be explained before we start blaming the little green men.

Armandii, I'm open minded about everything until it's proven, that includes Ufo's.

I didn't believe in ghosts until a few years ago and even with what I have experienced myself I am still open minded about those too. I haven't found a logical answer for what I've seen. :)

I think I'm open minded about the existence of UFO's too. But my mother cursed me by christening me with the middle name of Thomas and I am a doubter!!

When it comes to defining a UFO I guess we all assume it's a flying craft "manned" or controlled by Aliens i.e: not from this planet, and we disregard the definition of something not identified.

But, I guess, I'm a doubter of many things and I really would like to have my doubts disproved. If I actually saw a ghost I would be so happy that I go over to talk to it, but despite being in many strange places I've never seen one. UFO's are something different and should they exist I would be cautious on seeing one. But again, I never seen one or any positive proof of them. But I would be happy to be proved wrong!!

As Clueless says, the numbers are in favour of there being life out there on some planet and maybe, just maybe, we have evidence of that in the not too distant future.

I did manage to get quite a good reproduction taking a picture from a picture!

Anyway, first shot is me near the plane

and second, me about to take off and faint. (well, I didn't faint but I was quite close...)

What an amazing response to this issue...
An update on the chopper in the picture.
XJ410 was lost on 21.9.65. It hit cables over the River Torridge whilst on an ASR search and was ditched 1/2 mile south of Long Bridge, Bideford.
