What is this leaf that keeps cropping up everywhere?

I keep noticing these darn shoots cropping up everywhere this summer. Anyone know what it is? I think it's some sort of shrub. It grows at the back of our beds, near an ivy covered fence, and is sprouting between paving stones and..just everywhere!

Anyone know how to banish it forever? I've gone through so much Weedol :(
