But it aint funny, Melinda, and that is my point!!!!!!!

Yes its copy cat looting now, but that is not how it started.
It started because the police killed a coloured person, if that man had been white I doubt any of this would have kicked off.

It just shows how easily it is to stir things up and there will always be opportunists ready to join in, black and white.

    Armandii,
I remember the riots in the Gorbels, Glasgow and Toxteth, Liverpool many years ago. Didn't they take the army in there?

The police can not do anything BECAUSE they would be charged with picking on ethnic groups

The Firebrigade are under the same problem, stoned by youths when trying to rescue someone, they have to leave the scene
Personally with a 3" high pressure water hose I know what I would be inclined to do (what they wish they could do I suppose)

That's one of my points, Jack. The fact that the system is so damaged by PC Organisations, do gooder's, weak Politicians and Leaders that the Police can't operate properly knowing that they won't get the support they need.

Jack, There are white kids tearing up Bromley and Wandsworth right now.

How does that fit in with your world view?

These are scrotes. Scrotes of many colours.

These are not race riots. These are hooligans and opportunist thieves.

This whole thing makes me feel sick. The fact it is mindless thuggery and criminality is a given.

It infuriates me that these people, in their argument with the police, have decided to express their opinion by destroying people's homes and possessions and livelihoods, putting innocent people in physical danger and fear, destroying their own neighbourhoods, and contributing nicely to our recession by forcing companies out of business. A big chain might be able to survive having one of their shops destroyed, but smaller companies wont stand a chance. Even with proper insurance cover, they'll still lose a massive excess, and being closed for weeks while the rebuild happens means they are not earning, and their customers are moving elsewhere.

Nice one rioters, excellent own goal. You've made your own neighbourhoods infinitely more rubbish.

As for the looting, well when this is all over, maybe they should just put a copper or two in every dole office, then when someone comes in to sign on wearing designer threads, the coppers can just politely ask them to explain how they managed to afford it.

I would normally agree with you on this, but I think in this instance, maybe the army should at least provide support. I'm not saying that that support should be a forceful, urban warfare type thing, but I believe the army are very well trained in crowd control. They could maybe help coordinate things, and help move innocent people out of the way, so that the riot police can give their full attention to the front line without risk of being flanked.

Agree now it is scrotes and thieves of many colours

It started with ethnic GANGSTAS, the rest have joined the band wagon

They are on video but hooded, and when/IF they are later picked up and taken to court they are told how Naughty they were and have to do 20 hours community work, which they will not bother to do
Or spend the time whilst digging a pensioners garden of what booty they can come and rob next week from them

I have to disagree with you, Clueles, as today's Army is not well trained in crowd control. Maybe the Army you remember was, but that is not the case today. Would you put unarmed troops on the streets, or would you arm them??. If you arm them, what would you arm them with?, sticks?, clubs?, guns?. Another Bloody Monday???, and that could so easily happen on a dark street lit only by burning buildings with a frightened and nervous Army Private armed with a firearm. Our Army is still, professionally, the best in the world, but, and it is a BIG but, it is should not be the weapon of choice in control of riots, etc. We tried it in Northern Ireland, the Yanks tried during their Race and Rights riots way back when, Syria is trying it now, albeit in the extreme. Use the Armed Forces for the purpose they were created for, the defence of the country from external military forces. Just because our Government has seen fit to reduce the size, resources, capability, morale and will to deal with riots should not be seen as an excuse to use the Army.
Been there, wore the T-shirt and it didn't/doesn't work.

Please dont be drawn into thinking this is about race, or the police holding off for fear of offending any group. That is a massive red herring. A dead end.

This is about opportunist thievery. This is about nihilism. Mindless wanton destruction.
Kids are posting photos and video of themselves on Twitter and Facebook. Its a celebration of out flanking and out thinking the police.

Think Clockwork Orange- They are trashing buses and town centres for fun. There is no idea about consequence. This is not political.

Most of the condemnations have come from black people- look at twitter and you'll see it laid out for you.

Darcus Howe is currently chatting nonsense about stop and search on Newsnight. Ive not seen him since I was a kid, but now they roll him out for a controversial comment or two? Please!

So called community leaders crawling out of the woodwork to claim all sorts about these riots, but read the rioters tweets, these kids are having a brilliant night out.

Same as happened in Belfast last month. Its nonsense.

And of course meanwhile today, bankers and speculators have wrecked what's left of your pensions.
