So are there any garden centres in Tottenham then?

I think our troops should come back home and send these convicted rioters out to Afghanistan etc... for a bit ...see how tough they are then...lets face it even IF they get convicted we've nowhere to put them...

You may be interested in listening to this man. He always has a lot to say (listen to some of his other comments on society) and although I don't agree with everything he says he certainly has a forceful way of putting things. :WINK1:

A few years back when I described the impromptu bail house which the MoJ had set up next door to us as a 'rats' nest', there was much sucking of teeth. The local police, ever keen to prove their right-on credentials, were quick to remind me of the many rights of all those nice, misunderstood crims who'd been put back on the streets on early release. I met a lady at the council who rejoiced in the title of 'Deputy Head of Inclusion'. Her job was to make sure that people who wanted to live outside of society and disregard most of its rules didn't feel left out, upset or in any way inconvenienced by hardened villains like me who indulged in a little minor name-calling.

However, the lady who had her baby shop in Ealing destroyed in the riots called the attackers 'feral rats' and now Shiney's Mr Angry is using some colourful imagery involving rats and their own poo. I think I must have started a trend. Take care, little street rats. We'll be putting down poison next.

Agreed about the pointless short sentences of which they only do half. However this time round lots of regular people who were not previously known to the police also joined in the carnage.
It certainly was not just the usual 'villains'.

Youth workers, teaching assistants, graphic designers, a millionaire's daughter... it was a wide variety of people doing the looting. While some of the damage was done by 'kids' doing a bit of recreational looting in their school holidays, the evidence from the courts in the past few days is proving that lots of the looters were grown ups with jobs.

Nipping out at lunchtime from work to do a bit of light stealing.

What will be interesting is seeing whether this massive influx of new names and details on the Police National Computer will lead to other previously unsolved crimes being resolved.

Has anyone here seen The Wire?

At the moment it feels like we're living inside it- life is imitating art.
        The Bankers
        MP's Expenses
        Phone Hacking
Police corruption at the very top
Now the most wide spread civil unrest for a generation

If you were going to write a drama featuring that lot, people would call the story 'over worked.'
