:help: We have a largish amount of lawn (most of which is sloping) but it's split up into smaller sections. We are looking round for a mulching, self powered mower. Price wise the Efco LR 48TH is favourite and I was wondering if anyone has any experience of these mowers, are they a good buy or should we steer clear?

    Hope someone can advise.

Unfortunately it's not as simple as that.

Although Honda make a nice engine, bolting one on to a cheap mower doesn't make it good mower.

Blade and bowl design determine the mowing quality. Many 'mulching' mowers just block the chute so the cuttings are recyled back into the blade.

To mulch properly you need a double blade.

good points, however, I have never been a fan of mulching .... I have used many lawnmowers including sit ons (and have never found one that mulches properly, especially when the grass is damp or long) ....

The Efco does come with a mulching kit though, and has a honda engine, a good reputation and is well priced ....

just not sure if that is the correct choice for slopes and banks, hence the link I gave for the flymo type petrol mower which most probably could be used for the whole garden if there are many slopes/banks

if price is not a concern, I would go for an Etesia pro ... it's the best mower I have used (so far), but saying that, it's not so good for slopes either
