    Hi
No is the answer for outside to late in the year and they wont have time to grow plus the first frost will kill all the growth off, you could if you have a green house plant first early varieties into potatao bags , but you would need a green house to move them into.

Diffrent spuds you use in cooking some good boilers others are had better roasted or chips, next time you grow them check what the variety is good for

    Hi,
Well I have planted christmas potatoes about 2 weeks ago, so the idea is to have small new potatoes on Christmas day and to eat them small rather than letting them get big . I suggest you look on the site for JAB potatoes who i have found excellent at advising when and what to plant. I have grown ( amongst others) Ulster Classic as a first early and it's those that i have planted for Xmas, I found them to be excellent for taste and they are a good all rounder. My fave spud so far.

And I have realised through cooking tasting etc. that i prefer the waxy pot rather than floury

    Hi Spruce,

In my allotment, I'll let you know how they grow, to be honest this is the time that I have planted them for Xmas.

The frost will kill them, thats why people start in buckets/sacks then move into green house as the space becomes available and before the first frost .

I am planting Charlotte potatoes for a client tomorrow, hopefully for a Xmas crop. They will be planted 1 per 10" pot, in well rotted manure. I will grow them outside until the weather starts to turn cold, then they will go in the greenhouse.
