sadly, it's called 'fate' and has nothing to do with wearing shorts and sandals

even if he wore an overall, a luminescent coat, safety boots, googles and gloves, a gas mask, and attended all the training and safety courses,... likelihood is that he may have still suffered the same injuries to his leg

for several years, I was involved in engineereing in the gas industry .... I have seen and witnessed some horrific accidents of people who were very well conversant with all the rules of safety in that industry ...

life can be harsh at times
    :(

Rubbish, if he`d worn the chainsaw proof leggings, boots, gauntlets and hard hat / visor, he would have been unscathed. You maybe conversant in the gas industry safety rules but you haven`t a clue when it comes to horticulture.

yea I know .... I normally just wear a tracksuit and a cap, or a tee shirt and shorts .... I'm not much into 'dressing up' ....

I like your garden boots though on your latest albumn photos and avatar ..... I might seek a pair of those

I'm not into the "fatalistic syndrome", dim. I honestly think wearing short and sandals when doing any gardening job is asking for trouble, but to be that casual [no pun intended] when using a power tool is just plain reckless. Granted he probably would have sustained some sort of injury even if he had been wearing safety gear but not to the extent he did.

I'm no different to any other person, I take risks and shortcuts when gardening or doing other jobs usually ending up with blood spilt or a sore hand/foot/finger. But I do wear long trousers and gloves to ward off sharp object, stings and rashes from plants. I try not to leave it to "Fate", just to my own carelessness!!

I hope you have Public Liability Insurance, because one day, believe you me, you are going to need it.:dbgrtmb:
